The Difference

Think you know Jesus? I know I do. Here's how I know I have felt the spirit of the Lord. Let's unpack.

Speaker:

Good morning everyone.

2

:

This is episode 18 of I Can, he Can.

3

:

Thank you guys so much for being

here and for tuning in today.

4

:

Today we are jumping right in

because I know the enemy definitely

5

:

did not want me to record this.

6

:

Ella was not feeling well.

7

:

And you know what?

8

:

It's pretty late, but it's okay because

we are here and we are getting God's word.

9

:

Out there and this message

because that's what matters.

10

:

That's what matters, and

it's what I just have to do.

11

:

So without further ado, let's go

ahead and begin with today's episode.

12

:

And I am starting off with Genesis chapter

22, verse one through 18, and that says,

13

:

sometime later, God tested Abraham.

14

:

he said to him, Abraham.

15

:

Here I am.

16

:

He replied.

17

:

Then God said, take your son, your

only son whom you love, Isaac,

18

:

and go to the region of Mariah.

19

:

Sacrifice him there as a

burnt offering on a mountain.

20

:

I will show you early the next morning,

Abraham got up and loaded his donkey.

21

:

He took with him two of his

servants and his son Isaac.

22

:

When he had cut enough wood for

the burnt offering, he set out for

23

:

the place God had told him about.

24

:

On the third day, Abraham looked up

and saw the place in the distance.

25

:

He said to his servants, stay here with a

donkey while I and the boy go over there.

26

:

We will worship and then

we will come back to you.

27

:

Abraham took the wood for the burnt

offering and placed it on his son, Isaac,

28

:

And he himself carried the fire and the

knife As the two of them went on together,

29

:

Isaac spoke up and said to his father,

Abraham father, yes, my son Abraham

30

:

replied, the fire and wood are here.

31

:

Isaac said, but where is the

lamb for the burnt offering?

32

:

Abraham answered, God himself will

provide the lamb for the burnt offering.

33

:

My son and the two of them went together.

34

:

When they reached the place

God had told him about.

35

:

Abraham built an altar there

and arranged the wood on it.

36

:

He bound his son Isaac and laid him

on the altar on top of the wood.

37

:

Then he reached out his hand and

took the knife to slay his son.

38

:

But the angel of the Lord

called out to him from heaven.

39

:

Abraham, Abraham.

40

:

Here I am.

41

:

He replied.

42

:

Do not lay a hand on that boy.

43

:

He said, do not do anything to him.

44

:

Now I know that you fear God because

you have not withheld from me.

45

:

your only son.

46

:

Abraham looked up and there in a

thicket he saw a ram cut by its horns.

47

:

He went over and took the

Raman, sacrificed it as a burnt

48

:

offering instead of his son.

49

:

So Abraham called that

place, the Lord will provide.

50

:

And to this day, it is said

on the mountain of the Lord.

51

:

It will be provided.

52

:

The angel of the Lord called to Abraham

from heaven a second time and said, I

53

:

swear by myself to declares the Lord

that because you have done this and have

54

:

not withheld your son, your only son,

I will surely bless you and make your

55

:

descendants as numerous as the stars in

the sky and as the sand on the seashore.

56

:

Your descendants will take possession of

the cities of their enemies and through

57

:

your offspring, all nations on earth.

58

:

Will be blessed because you have obeyed me

59

:

and those words, man, because

you have obeyed my voice.

60

:

Have you obeyed God's voice like Abraham?

61

:

Have you been faithful in the waiting?

62

:

Do you truly, truly want the Lord?

63

:

Do you even seek him like

Abraham from the Old Testament?

64

:

No.

65

:

People.

66

:

People nowadays are so wrapped

up in the things that they

67

:

want in the snap of a finger.

68

:

People nowadays just play church.

69

:

People are so predictable.

70

:

People just want the good.

71

:

They don't want what

comes with the waiting.

72

:

The unknown scares people.

73

:

And they only expect the good from

God because God is a good God.

74

:

Right?

75

:

Of course he is.

76

:

But it even says in the Bible that

we will have trials, and that doesn't

77

:

mean that when we seek God, it's just

gonna be all sunshine and rainbows.

78

:

We're only seeking the blessing.

79

:

We're only seeking what he can give us.

80

:

So we need to stop that.

81

:

You're only curious to see

God, but do you want him?

82

:

And I'm guilty of that too.

83

:

And and I know, and I feel guilt

about it because I fell into

84

:

that trap of only wanting what

he can do for me at one point.

85

:

But I know how wrong I was.

86

:

I will mention why I was wrong about that.

87

:

And you know what?

88

:

Society nowadays just wants the fast God.

89

:

And that's not how God works.

90

:

Because not every thing that God puts

in our path, it's because it's for us.

91

:

Sometimes it's a lesson, sometimes it's an

obstacle that we have to overcome because

92

:

he's preparing us for something else.

93

:

They don't want a God that makes us wait.

94

:

They want a God that

answers their empty prayers.

95

:

They don't sit at his feet.

96

:

Heck, people won't even say, thank

you, Lord, when they open their eyes.

97

:

How can we say we truly love God and love

Jesus when we are only seeking the gifts?

98

:

Are you anything like Abraham?

99

:

Abraham trusted, trusted that God

would provide that ram, and he was so

100

:

God-fearing and he just believed Now,

do you have that trust in God and wanna

101

:

please God so much that you're going to

sacrifice your son, you're gonna give

102

:

up that job and you're gonna move away

because that is what God is guiding

103

:

you to do and pointing you to do.

104

:

How much do you truly love him?

105

:

If you knew your life would end soon.

106

:

Now this is, this is a tough question,

but if you knew your life would end

107

:

soon, would you be glad for knowing?

108

:

That you'll be with him, with

the Lord, or will you curse him

109

:

for not giving you more time?

110

:

That happens time and time again, but

instead of having faith, instead of

111

:

being in prayer, instead of fasting,

instead of just giving it all to

112

:

God, people just turn away from

him and they say, why God, why me?

113

:

No, make it God.

114

:

Why are you doing this?

115

:

What are you trying to show me?

116

:

What more can I do for you?

117

:

God, that's the hardest

part about loving God.

118

:

And that's how you know

you really do love God.

119

:

But also ask yourself, how many times, how

many times do you say your will be done?

120

:

Lord, I know.

121

:

I don't always say it.

122

:

I mean, guys, it's, that's

a hard thing to say.

123

:

We always wanna have control, but

ask yourself, do you think there

124

:

is a difference in the life and

the salvation of a person who says,

125

:

your will be done, Lord, versus the

life of someone who is always trying

126

:

to control their life and destiny?

127

:

What is the difference?

128

:

Is there a difference?

129

:

Of course.

130

:

Of course.

131

:

There's a difference.

132

:

There's a huge difference.

133

:

We are all going to have trials in life.

134

:

Jesus had them.

135

:

we were made to endure and to

grow through those struggles.

136

:

We can either fight against them or we

can fight them hand in hand with God.

137

:

You choose.

138

:

You choose.

139

:

But funny enough, I want to ask, are you

like Saray, Abraham's wife, Saray, who

140

:

then became Sarah by the grace of God.

141

:

He showed her grace.

142

:

Despite her struggle to trust and

wait and be patient, God still gifted

143

:

her the most amazing gift of all.

144

:

She was barren.

145

:

and then God still gifted her a son.

146

:

A barren woman then became mother, and

yes, just like that, Sariah in the Bible.

147

:

I am also impatient.

148

:

It's funny enough because I'm, I

like to think I'm a lot like her,

149

:

perhaps even more impatient and

impulsive, especially if you know me

150

:

personally, you know those things.

151

:

But I too am becoming Sarah.

152

:

I am seeing, and I am living life now

where I can feel and see the difference

153

:

of what Christ has done in me.

154

:

I have a long way to go still.

155

:

I have a very long way to go,

but Christ does live in me.

156

:

And how do I know this?

157

:

How do I know that he lives in me,

that I have the spirit of God in me?

158

:

Just how I mentioned a few minutes

ago about falling into the trap

159

:

of how the world loves God today.

160

:

Yeah, that was me.

161

:

My life has been a rollercoaster

these past few months, and yes, my

162

:

life has changed from the moment

that I gave my heart to Christ.

163

:

However, as I grew in my relationship

with him, I got to know him in

164

:

a way that I can never explain.

165

:

I've encountered the Holy Spirit

many times as I drove to work so many

166

:

times as I showered and shed tears.

167

:

I encounter the spirit here in

this very corner that I am sitting

168

:

in and speaking to you right now.

169

:

this little old desk of mine has felt the

weight of my life on it many, many times.

170

:

And just as I felt the spirit

many times, I also felt how the

171

:

Lord was not listening to me.

172

:

Recently, I felt his head turn away.

173

:

And I'm not talking about him

being silent and making me wait

174

:

for something I prayed for.

175

:

No, no, no, no, no.

176

:

Absolutely not.

177

:

My friends, my life was in shambles

from one day to the next and God

178

:

turned his head because of my sin.

179

:

I know this in my core.

180

:

I know this in my soul.

181

:

How?

182

:

How do I know this when, if you know me?

183

:

You know that I cry, you know

that I cry for everything,

184

:

especially when I am praying,

especially when I am in the moment.

185

:

I cry.

186

:

I shed tears for God and for what he

did in my life and how he changed me.

187

:

But guys, I could not shed a single tear.

188

:

I felt so far from God.

189

:

I felt how apart the Lord was from me,

and I'm pretty sure that God threw this

190

:

wrench in my life as a test of obedience.

191

:

Would I stay in sin or

would I stop the sin?

192

:

And of course we sin every single

day as much as we try to avoid it.

193

:

We are imperfect humans.

194

:

We were born imperfect humans.

195

:

From the moment that we start

thinking for ourselves, we started

196

:

sinning because sinning feels good.

197

:

The enemy wants us to be in sin, and he

is a liar, and he wants to keep us in sin.

198

:

So how much are we going to love God

to try and stay away from that sin?

199

:

We need to do our best.

200

:

We need to do our best to

stay on the right track.

201

:

But I could not willingly

stay in a marriage and in sin.

202

:

I couldn't do that to God.

203

:

I could not continue to be

in this marriage, and there

204

:

will be more to come on that.

205

:

I will talk more on that eventually.

206

:

But my unhappy marriage and my unhappy

heart was driving me away from the Lord

207

:

every single day a little bit more.

208

:

And so it had to end.

209

:

I had to get right with God.

210

:

I had to feel God again.

211

:

I can't live without God.

212

:

When you know God, when you

have that relationship, when you

213

:

have felt his presence in some

sort of capacity, I promise you

214

:

you'll never be the same again.

215

:

And I refuse to do life without God.

216

:

Do you wanna do life with God this

much that you will turn away from

217

:

your marriage or turn away from a job?

218

:

Or, like I said, move away.

219

:

Move away because the Lord

is asking you to move away.

220

:

Do you love him that much?

221

:

Turning away from something that is of the

world to please God, would you do that?

222

:

A lot of people won't.

223

:

But I will because I know the difference.

224

:

I know the difference in me with God, and

I know the difference in me without God.

225

:

And it is.

226

:

It is 2, 2, 2, 2.

227

:

Too much for me to be without.

228

:

I am an empty vessel of a person.

229

:

We are all empty inside until we fill

ourselves with the spirit of God.

230

:

And I'm a person who refuses to slow

down, a person who battled lust, A

231

:

person who has lied from time to time.

232

:

A person who's just tried to get

by, get by with life, just doing

233

:

my own thing, like if I already

didn't have a destiny written out

234

:

for me, as if he didn't know me.

235

:

From the moment that my heart started

beating the first time, he already

236

:

knew what was in store for me.

237

:

He already knew all of those things, and

here I was just trying to do what I wanted

238

:

to do, being the rah that Abraham had,

not trusting, not waiting more than those

239

:

10 years for God's promise that was me.

240

:

The same Ry.

241

:

And yes, even though while now

I am still my bubbly self and

242

:

I'm friendly, I wouldn't like to

say that I'm a horrible person.

243

:

But there's some good in me.

244

:

I didn't hurt anyone here on earth.

245

:

Maybe emotionally, of course, you know,

because we say things, we say things that

246

:

hurt people, but overall, you'd like to

think that you're not a horrible person.

247

:

But what I did hurt someone.

248

:

I hurt the Lord.

249

:

I hurt the Lord.

250

:

The Lord who already hurt for us, the Lord

who gave his life for us to be new and to

251

:

be redeemed and to be washed of all sin.

252

:

Here.

253

:

Here I was hurting the one

man who gave it up all for me.

254

:

So yes, that's saray Without God, that

same wife of Abraham, without trusting,

255

:

without giving her life to him, to God.

256

:

That Sariah is impatient.

257

:

She was not well.

258

:

She was not a good person.

259

:

And of course, I am also speaking

about myself here, not just

260

:

Sariah in the Old Testament,

261

:

but that person could never be

in the presence of the Lord.

262

:

I could not even get near him

if I wanted to, but the Lord

263

:

knew what he needed to do.

264

:

He kept seeking me so that the difference

was apparent in me to everyone around me.

265

:

and so much so that still some people

that are close to me reject the new me.

266

:

Everyone.

267

:

Everyone that is around me needs to

know that I am new But you know what?

268

:

I have a lot of work to do still.

269

:

I'm conscious of that, and all I

wanna do is continue to please the

270

:

Lord, continue to please the Lord

and love him more and more and

271

:

more, and ask less and less for me.

272

:

How can I serve the Lord instead

of him always serving me?

273

:

He already served

everything he had for me.

274

:

He already gave up his life for me.

275

:

His blood spilled out for me and just

like John chapter three, verse 30 says,

276

:

he must increase, but I must decrease.

277

:

How simple but true are

those words my friend.

278

:

He's greater than us.

279

:

He will always be bigger

than anything in our lives.

280

:

And just like that, for that

very same reason, we should

281

:

not just pray an empty prayer.

282

:

We should not just ask him for salvation.

283

:

No, no, no, no.

284

:

Stop that right now.

285

:

Yes, it's great to be saved, of

course, but we need to love him.

286

:

Want.

287

:

Him respect and worship the holy

one that gave it all for us.

288

:

He redeems us.

289

:

He restores us.

290

:

Let's get back to the heart of worship,

like the name of the song, let's Redeem

291

:

and Restore What True Love for God is.

292

:

Let's do that for him.

293

:

Bow your heads when you pray.

294

:

Raise your arms longer than

you would ever do because his

295

:

arms were apart for so long.

296

:

Carrying the weight of his body, you

can raise your arms for him longer

297

:

than you could even think to do.

298

:

Shed the tears and just ask

him to reveal himself to you.

299

:

Shed tears for his heart to

meet yours where you are.

300

:

Plead that he will grace you

with his presence one day, even

301

:

if it's just for one second.

302

:

I want him the way he wants your heart.

303

:

If there is one thing that I pray you will

do today, as soon as this episode ends.

304

:

It's to pray to the Lord and

let him have all the praise and

305

:

all the glory that he deserves.

306

:

Don't ask for a single thing.

307

:

Don't even ask him to

wake you up tomorrow.

308

:

Just say, thank you for waking me

up now, and thank you for giving

309

:

me this time to praise you, God,

to glorify your name, Lord, do that

310

:

today and every day moving forward.

311

:

He deserves every single second of the

time and thoughts that we have when we

312

:

are not consumed with things of the world.

313

:

And I hope that you are consumed with

things of the world less and less,

314

:

because what matters is the time that

we spend with him, not just here on

315

:

earth, but the time that we will one

day get to spend with him in heaven.

316

:

And we can only do that.

317

:

We can only do that if we love the

Lord more and we hurt him less.

318

:

He's already hurt enough.

319

:

He's already hurt enough, and

we need to love him like he

320

:

loves us and how he wants us.

321

:

The same way he pulled you out of

that pit, let's make sure that we are

322

:

right there beside him, calling on

him every single day of our lives.

323

:

Every day a little bit more.

324

:

My friends, I thank you so much

for spending this time with me.

325

:

You could be doing anything else right

now, but you are here and you are

326

:

listening, and that means the world to me.

327

:

That means the world to me, but it'll

mean the world even more to God if

328

:

you open up your Bibles and you get

a little bit closer to him today.

329

:

So I pray that you guys will do

that, whether it's right now or

330

:

before you close your eyes tonight.

331

:

Get a little bit closer to God.

332

:

Read his word, stay in his word,

stay in prayer, and stay in love

333

:

with God because he has always

loved you, and he always will.

334

:

Thank you for listening, and until

next time, my friends take care.

To whoever reads this:
I'm glad you're here and I hope you stay a while. There is something I need to give back to the world - and to you.

That 'something' is my story, my life and my words that were once marked by pain, but are now marked by love and a new found faith in Christ. But hold it right there! Do not be quick to judge. While the root of all my talks are founded in the Bible - do not mistake what I have to say for 'unremarkable' or 'not relatable'.

My story is different than yours. However, if there is one thing we 100% have in common, it's that God has always been with us. If you agree - stick around. If you DON'T agree - stick around too. Let me show the unbeliever, the doubter, and the unsure person, how God has always been there.
