19 | Meet Me Here

You seek approval from every, but God. Let's discuss that and what happens when we say, "God... Meet me here."

Speaker:

All righty, my friends.

2

:

Happy Monday.

3

:

Welcome back to another

episode of I Can't He Can.

4

:

I'm Sarai, your host, and thank you so

much for being here once again, as always,

5

:

today's episode is interesting because I

prepared some notes, some thoughts that

6

:

I had throughout the week, and I have.

7

:

Really been just trying to pray

more about what I have for you guys.

8

:

Um, a lot of the time I am really just.

9

:

Centered on one topic.

10

:

And I, I try to do that because

I myself sometimes have a

11

:

little bit of squirrel brain.

12

:

And even though that's more

brandy than me, um, I, I really

13

:

do try to just be organized and

have notes and all that stuff.

14

:

so today's episode really is

going to start with, what was

15

:

on my heart earlier in the week,

But when I got home from church.

16

:

I had errands to run.

17

:

And when I walked in the house, I

just felt so much joy, so much peace.

18

:

Um, and I started, you know, playing

music and I was worshiping and I

19

:

was praying, and I was just walking

around my house like a crazy woman.

20

:

And I had these words in my mind and

it was, meet me here, meet me here.

21

:

And.

22

:

I don't know if, whether that

was God saying meet me here or me

23

:

asking him to meet me where I was.

24

:

so that is something that I do want

to discuss in just a minute or two.

25

:

But to start off with today's episode,

I wanted to discuss what it is that

26

:

we as a younger generation deal with,

especially on social media and having

27

:

the support of family and loved ones

because I know it's something that a lot

28

:

of people don't like to admit that they

care about, but we all do care about it.

29

:

So let's jump right into that, and

we are going to start by reading

30

:

Psalms 56, starting on verse three.

31

:

Psalm 56.

32

:

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust

you in God, I will praise his word.

33

:

In God, I have put my trust.

34

:

I will not fear.

35

:

What can flesh do to me all day?

36

:

They twist my words.

37

:

All their thoughts are

against me for evil.

38

:

They gather together.

39

:

They hide.

40

:

They mark my steps When they lie and wait

for my life, shall they escape by inequity

41

:

And anger.

42

:

Cast down the peoples.

43

:

Oh God, you number my wanderings.

44

:

You put my tears in your bottle.

45

:

Are they not in your book?

46

:

When I cry out to you, then

my enemies will turn back.

47

:

This I know because God is for me.

48

:

In God.

49

:

I will praise his word in the

Lord, I will praise his word.

50

:

In God, I have put my trust.

51

:

I will not be afraid.

52

:

What can man do to me?

53

:

Vows made to you are binding upon me.

54

:

Oh God, I will render praises to you for

you have delivered my soul from death.

55

:

That was Psalm 56, verse

three through verse.

56

:

13.

57

:

Now, the reason I read this psalm

to you guys is because earlier in

58

:

this week, I just felt some kind

of way, I felt some kind of way,

59

:

and it wasn't anything Christian.

60

:

I will say, I had to kind of catch

myself, take a step back, and I,

61

:

I wondered why it is so hard for

close, close friends sometimes.

62

:

And mostly family to celebrate you, to

support you to be your number one fan.

63

:

And it's funny because when we're kids

and when we are little, our moms and

64

:

dads are usually cheering us on like

they truly are our number one fans.

65

:

But then as we grow,

they kind of lose that.

66

:

I would say a good majority

of people lose that.

67

:

Not everyone, however.

68

:

Maybe even brothers and sisters, aunts,

cousins, those close relatives that you

69

:

would think are going to cheer you on are

usually the last people to do so uneven

70

:

actually criticize you, and those are the

people that essentially hurt us the most.

71

:

And it's really, really unfortunate

because even in my walk with Christ in

72

:

the beginning now more than a year ago.

73

:

My very mom said the most hurtful things,

and she didn't say anything that was

74

:

extremely rude, but your parents know

how to get to you in a very specific

75

:

way, and because it's your parents, it

almost hurts three, four times more.

76

:

So in this case, my mom Said some comment

that I didn't really take very well about

77

:

how I was just being Christian and it

was a thing that was just gonna pass.

78

:

Now, it wasn't in that exact way

that she said it, but I guess I can

79

:

easily explain it in that sense.

80

:

However, when she said that my heart was

just crushed and it made me feel like.

81

:

Man, I could never win.

82

:

I could never win.

83

:

Like I always had something to prove

and I always had someone to please.

84

:

And even though it is our parents and

we need to honor our parents, 'cause

85

:

that's what the Bible says, we must

honor our mother and our father.

86

:

In that moment, I didn't wanna honor her,

I didn't wanna honor her, and I wanted to

87

:

say something snippy and I kind of did.

88

:

It wasn't too bad,

honestly, but I felt bad.

89

:

It really did hurt me and.

90

:

A lot of the times, unfortunately,

people who support us and our goals

91

:

and the things that we are working

towards are onlookers and strangers.

92

:

It's rarely ever a family or a

friend or someone that's close to us.

93

:

So you may have those, you know, maybe

two, three friends that do support,

94

:

but there are always the silent

onlookers that are either number one.

95

:

Actually rooting for you who stay in

touch, who actually genuinely seem like

96

:

they care and they are there, they're,

they give you words of encouragement.

97

:

There's those people, or there

are also these silent onlookers

98

:

that are just waiting for you to

fall so they can go gossip and

99

:

just say, oh, what did I tell you?

100

:

You know, Sara's podcast flopped and

she stopped at, you know, 20 episodes.

101

:

It didn't even last five months.

102

:

Um.

103

:

You know, and that's something that we

don't admit that we care about, but we do.

104

:

And why do we care about that?

105

:

Because we are imperfect, we are flesh,

we still care about things of the world.

106

:

So I really did have that in my heart

this week that I want to care less.

107

:

And while I have made huge improvements,

not just because of this podcast,

108

:

but in general, I, I really do not.

109

:

Care very much what people say

or think about me, especially

110

:

in my walk with Christ, right?

111

:

That is like absolutely not, like I could

care less what anyone has to say when

112

:

I talk about Jesus and my love for God.

113

:

However, it is sometimes harder to turn

my head away and not pay attention to,

114

:

you know, someone that is of importance.

115

:

Or let's say, for example, if

it's someone that I look up

116

:

to at the church or whatnot.

117

:

Uh, to a certain extent you do care

what a person like that thinks, and

118

:

I am really trying so much to not

let those thoughts not consume me.

119

:

That's not really the best word,

but I'm really trying my best to

120

:

not let those things potentially

even become like an idol because

121

:

we can idolize wanting to feel.

122

:

Liked by other people.

123

:

And at the end of the day, we

have nothing to prove to them.

124

:

We have nothing to prove.

125

:

And anyway, I digress because

that wasn't even scripted.

126

:

I'm just, Ooh, I'm just getting

it all out there, I guess.

127

:

But it is sad.

128

:

It is sad because we count on

those people for approval and

129

:

for support and we shouldn't.

130

:

And honestly, those same family

members don't realize that they

131

:

are essentially supporting, in

most cases, total strangers.

132

:

I'm pretty sure that they have a favorite

music artist, a favorite athlete, a

133

:

bunch of, you know, influencers or

whoever it is that they follow, but

134

:

they don't support you and what you're

doing and how you're trying to improve.

135

:

Or it may not be to the level

that they support that stranger.

136

:

So it's not to say that they don't

support you at all, but they may just,

137

:

you know, kind of go a little bit

above and beyond for a person that

138

:

doesn't even know that they exist.

139

:

Now and of course this is my

interpretation, but in this day and

140

:

age, God is the one behind the scenes.

141

:

He is the one behind the scenes,

and he is the one supporter that

142

:

we can always count on you guys.

143

:

He's the one with the best advice,

with the best intentions, and

144

:

also with the best plan for you.

145

:

He is the one with the only plan for us.

146

:

So we should also stop trying to make our

own plans because a lot of the time things

147

:

may even blow up in our faces, and then

we're just sitting back and we're kind of

148

:

like, well, I wonder why this happened.

149

:

And it happened essentially because

we weren't listening and we were

150

:

seeking approval of other people.

151

:

And I shouldn't be like that.

152

:

We need to be praying and we need

to be asking God for guidance.

153

:

We need to be seeking his approval What

he has planned for us is what matters.

154

:

Our salvation matters.

155

:

Doing better matters,

helping others around us.

156

:

Those things matter.

157

:

It doesn't matter how much

money you're gonna make.

158

:

We were born with nothing.

159

:

We came into this world

with absolutely nothing.

160

:

So we are going to leave

that exact same way.

161

:

So why are we seeking the

support of other people?

162

:

Why are we looking for that approval?

163

:

The only approval that is going

to matter the day that we close

164

:

our eyes is God's approval.

165

:

Did we pass the test?

166

:

Is my name in that book of life, and

I sure hope that mine is because man,

167

:

every single day, the more that I do

life, the more that I wanna meet Christ.

168

:

I am sitting here in my little

corner and I truly have a, I

169

:

have this paper in front of me.

170

:

I dunno if you guys can hear it.

171

:

I have this paper in front of me and

I'm just letting these words pour out.

172

:

I am letting these words pour out

because it's what's in my heart.

173

:

It's not what I'm writing on

a paper to try and, and sound

174

:

eloquent and well put together.

175

:

No, no, no, no, no.

176

:

Yes, I have an idea of what's on

the paper, but I don't need anyone's

177

:

approval that's listening to this.

178

:

I hope that what I can say can move,

you can strike a nerve in you maybe.

179

:

Maybe it'll just resonate so much

with you that you can share it

180

:

with someone who you know needs it.

181

:

And I pray that that person can

be changed by what I'm doing.

182

:

And all I want is for what I do here

on Earth, how I shepherd my kids,

183

:

how I treat others, and how I do now

moving forward now knowing that I

184

:

can no longer hurt God, that I cannot

continue to sin and do things that

185

:

are against him, that are not of him.

186

:

That's all the approval that a I want.

187

:

I want him to say, well done, good

and faithful servant, because that

188

:

is all that we are here to do.

189

:

We are here to serve,

190

:

so stop looking for that approval.

191

:

No one has to be okay with what you are

doing as long as you are okay with God.

192

:

And God is the one that's

waiting for us to speak up,

193

:

speak to him, ask him what to do.

194

:

Seek his approval.

195

:

Don't seek the world's approval.

196

:

Seek God's approval.

197

:

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you.

198

:

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal itself

to you, to show you something,

199

:

and it will.

200

:

The Holy Spirit is there just waiting.

201

:

They are idle.

202

:

They're just sitting by

waiting for us to call on them.

203

:

And you will never be disappointed in him.

204

:

You may not understand, but you

will not be let down by him.

205

:

Jeremiah 29 11 says, for I know the

plans I have for you, declares the Lord.

206

:

Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.

207

:

Plans to give you hope and

a future only he knows.

208

:

He knows the plans.

209

:

Only he will continue to provide

and to love and to hold you.

210

:

Christ is the only one that

will never let you down.

211

:

So

212

:

Do not seek that approval from

anyone else other than him.

213

:

'cause he's all you need.

214

:

He is all you need.

215

:

And with that.

216

:

Today when I got home and I started

praying, oh man, I just, I was walking

217

:

around, like I said, like a mad woman here

in my apartment, up and down, up and down.

218

:

Ella was looking at me like,

mom, what are you doing?

219

:

And she had a little moment where

she kind of, you know, broke down and

220

:

started crying for other personal things

that I will talk about eventually.

221

:

However, um.

222

:

I think maybe it was the spirit

moving in, her seeing me.

223

:

Maybe it touched her.

224

:

I don't know.

225

:

I don't know.

226

:

But what I gathered from that moment

that I was praying and walking around

227

:

and worshiping and listening to

music and thanking God for, just for

228

:

everything, thanking God for being who

he is and for never giving up on me and

229

:

always providing and giving me peace.

230

:

I just, I felt those words.

231

:

I felt those words.

232

:

I felt that thought.

233

:

I felt that thought.

234

:

Meet me here, and it doesn't

matter where you are right now.

235

:

You could be having a life

changing event coming up.

236

:

You could have heard of a

diagnosis for a family member or

237

:

have some sort of health issue.

238

:

You could be having problems at work.

239

:

You could be having so many things.

240

:

There are so many things

that we all deal with.

241

:

But let me tell you, all you need to do

is just ask God to meet you where you

242

:

are, whether it's some sort of sadness

or whether you know that you are in sin.

243

:

Whether you know that you messed up.

244

:

Ask him for forgiveness.

245

:

Repent of what you are doing.

246

:

He will always meet you where you are, but

you need with your heart to talk to him

247

:

and to ask for forgiveness and to speak

with him, and to continue to build that

248

:

relationship because that's all he wants.

249

:

God wants your heart.

250

:

Isaiah one 18 says, come now and let

us reason together says the Lord.

251

:

Though your sins are like scarlet,

they shall be as wide as snow.

252

:

Though they are read like

crimson, they shall be as wool.

253

:

I've been doing bible study with a person

that I care for very deeply and this

254

:

was one of these scriptures that came up

as, you know, we were talking, we were

255

:

reading, and when I read those words,

when I saw, let us Reason together.

256

:

It was a wake up call and a confirmation

that you could commit the worst of sins.

257

:

and still be forgiven.

258

:

However, of course you would have

to do better, but if I am in sin

259

:

and I just come to God and I just

sit there at his feet and I ask for

260

:

forgiveness, he will reason with me.

261

:

He will understand.

262

:

And man, today I understood, meet me here.

263

:

It doesn't matter where we are in our

walk, in our life, it doesn't matter.

264

:

He will love us just as we are.

265

:

And there is no one in this

life that will do that.

266

:

You can find someone and it be really,

really close and be really, really happy.

267

:

Yes, that's that's true, but there is

nothing that will ever fulfill your

268

:

soul and every single need and give

you peace and give you love and give

269

:

you unwavering forgiveness like Jesus.

270

:

None.

271

:

Absolutely none.

272

:

It is unmatched.

273

:

Now, if you get to experience

a love somewhat close to that

274

:

here on earth, then you are.

275

:

You are blessed, you truly are.

276

:

You are blessed, so take care of it.

277

:

Reason with that person, when

you're going through trials.

278

:

But just know that you need to

meet each other where you are.

279

:

The same way.

280

:

The same way that Jesus

will meet you where you are.

281

:

We are what he created.

282

:

We are what he is most proud of.

283

:

Yet we go and we seek that

validation from other people.

284

:

We do something good.

285

:

We get that promotion that, of

course, that he put together for us.

286

:

He wrote that down in our book of life.

287

:

And we go, once we seek

validation from other people.

288

:

What?

289

:

No, no, thank your father.

290

:

Thank your father in heaven for

the blessings that you have.

291

:

Something happened that you didn't expect.

292

:

Your life took a turn for

something that you never saw.

293

:

Coming down the pipeline,

God is protecting you.

294

:

God is protecting you from something,

or he has something greater.

295

:

He knows what you're struggling with.

296

:

He knows how you're feeling.

297

:

He knows when something is too much.

298

:

And he knows when something is too

little because you are too great.

299

:

You are too great, and you are too much

of a prized possession to God to be in

300

:

a place that he did not write for you.

301

:

So just meet him here.

302

:

Meet him in the spot where

you are right now and say God.

303

:

Have your way, Lord.

304

:

Your will be done.

305

:

Father,

306

:

I truly hope that this podcast can be

a safe space, I want this to be a space

307

:

where you can feel the need to speak to

God after you listen, because I'm a woman.

308

:

I am not anything that

you should look up to.

309

:

I am flesh.

310

:

I am of this world.

311

:

But if I can just even get you one inch

closer to wanting to pray and to talk to

312

:

God, and to give him your heart, even if

you already do that from time to time.

313

:

But after you listen,

if you say, if God what?

314

:

She said, I'm here.

315

:

Lord, meet me here, God, then I will be

at peace because I know this has blessed

316

:

you and I want nothing less for you.

317

:

Then the blessings of the Lord.

318

:

So thank you guys again for listening.

319

:

As always.

320

:

Until next time, take care.

To whoever reads this:
I'm glad you're here and I hope you stay a while. There is something I need to give back to the world - and to you.

That 'something' is my story, my life and my words that were once marked by pain, but are now marked by love and a new found faith in Christ. But hold it right there! Do not be quick to judge. While the root of all my talks are founded in the Bible - do not mistake what I have to say for 'unremarkable' or 'not relatable'.

My story is different than yours. However, if there is one thing we 100% have in common, it's that God has always been with us. If you agree - stick around. If you DON'T agree - stick around too. Let me show the unbeliever, the doubter, and the unsure person, how God has always been there.
