Let Go, Let God.

Let's face it, we like to be in control. We say that we are the authors of our lives - but are we really? Of course not. The Lord guides and reveals our path, but truly when we are in surrender. Let's unpack exactly what that means.

Speaker:

All righty everyone.

2

:

Good morning and happy Monday to you all.

3

:

This is episode 16 of I Can't.

4

:

He Can.

5

:

And before we jump into today's episode,

let go and let God, I wanted to apologize.

6

:

Kind of a little apology, but not

really because it was much needed.

7

:

But I do apologize for leaving you

guys with this unplanned hiatus that

8

:

I took last week, without knowing,

without knowing or even planning it.

9

:

this break just was the birth of today's

episode, and it's a great segue into

10

:

our overall topic of total surrender.

11

:

Now first, I didn't plan to even

go on a break or go anywhere.

12

:

probably about until a week

before I actually planned my

13

:

trip and I went to Georgia.

14

:

It was beautiful, beautiful, honestly.

15

:

Um, but anyway.

16

:

Second, uh, this break served as

one of the most amazing weekends

17

:

and so satisfying days that I

have had in a long, long time.

18

:

Last but not least, not only did I feel

renewed and happy, but it also gave

19

:

me the answers that I didn't know that

I needed for some things in my life.

20

:

it really give me clarity.

21

:

It gave me a break and,

you know, sometimes.

22

:

It's really hard to find those things

that we're praying for and asking God

23

:

for in the noise of just every day.

24

:

So, in a world where there's just so

much noise, like I said, and it's so

25

:

fast paced, we don't always realize

that we actually need to step away.

26

:

Our souls need and can benefit from a day

or two just of silence and prayer and.

27

:

Maybe even being around people that

make you feel alive and make you feel,

28

:

wow.

29

:

It's really, it's really hard to

even explain, but a place or a

30

:

person can just make you feel in a

way that you never knew you needed.

31

:

So with that said, I didn't

just go away to party or drink.

32

:

It had been a trip that I was

waiting for for a really long time.

33

:

It ended up being the total opposite

of what I imagined, but what I am

34

:

most happy about is that my hiatus

and my break away from everyday

35

:

life also drew me closer to God.

36

:

And I took that time and worshiped

and prayed and just kind of.

37

:

Slowed down in the way that I know that

Jesus would want us to slow down to

38

:

really see what we're missing in life.

39

:

So I'm really grateful that I, I

took that opportunity and, um, you

40

:

know, he just renewed and restored

in a way that nothing else can.

41

:

So, like one of my favorite Bible

scriptures, Matthew:

42

:

come to me all you who labor and are

heavy laden and I will give you rest.

43

:

And Jesus doesn't just

renew, restore, and redeem.

44

:

He gives us that rest.

45

:

We need that rest.

46

:

You guys.

47

:

We need that rest.

48

:

And if we don't get that rest,

we're going to burn out Now,

49

:

today's episode is simple.

50

:

It's fast to the point and

not because I'm just trying to

51

:

get in and out, but sometimes.

52

:

Less is more.

53

:

And sometimes God doesn't want

us to go above and beyond and,

54

:

um, do a thousand things for him.

55

:

Simple is good, and a really

important reminder that we all

56

:

need, whether you are Christian

or not, you all need to slow down.

57

:

You need to rest.

58

:

now.

59

:

I have one question for you.

60

:

How can we get this rest through Jesus?

61

:

And of course the answer is in surrender.

62

:

Now, there's only one way to

salvation, and yes, salvation comes

63

:

through faith and believe in Jesus.

64

:

But I personally believe, and

this is my personal opinion, but

65

:

I do believe that true salvation

does come through surrender.

66

:

Because if we don't fully surrender to God

and we don't give him all of our problems,

67

:

all of our anxieties, we are going to

continue to stumble and fall and even sin.

68

:

And we need to have that surrender in

Christ because if we don't surrender

69

:

and we say, yes, I'm a follower of

Jesus, and you can believe in Jesus,

70

:

but are you really following him?

71

:

If you're not surrendering,

that's all he wants.

72

:

That's all he wants from you.

73

:

He wants you to surrender

and just give him your heart.

74

:

So let go of your ways.

75

:

Let go of your negative thoughts.

76

:

Let go of your fears, of your

doubts and give it all to the Lord.

77

:

Let go and let God.

78

:

Let God do with your life what he meant

it to be before you took a single breath.

79

:

I'm gonna repeat that.

80

:

Let God do with your life what he meant

it to be before you took a single breath.

81

:

Now, by definition, surrender means.

82

:

The act of yielding or submitting

to the authority and will of God.

83

:

It involves a relinquishment

of personal control and a trust

84

:

in God's sovereignty and plan.

85

:

Surrender is a fundamental aspect

of the Christian faith emphasizing

86

:

obedience, humility, and faith.

87

:

Let's take that a step further and

let's ask, what is sovereignty?

88

:

Because I know that I really did

not understand what sovereignty is.

89

:

And that is a concept that God

and Jesus are the supreme rulers

90

:

over all things and they are in

complete control of the universe.

91

:

Now, don't you think if there is someone

or a being that can rule over all things,

92

:

they have control over everything?

93

:

Don't you think that they can manage

to handle all the things in your life?

94

:

Don't you think that they at the snap

of their finger, they can just say.

95

:

That's it.

96

:

This is gone.

97

:

This is taken care of.

98

:

Don't worry.

99

:

Of course it can.

100

:

Of course it can, but it

is difficult to surrender.

101

:

It's difficult to accept

that we are not in control.

102

:

Sometimes it's hard to accept that our

story and our plan is already written

103

:

for us, and we need to let that go.

104

:

We need to let that go because I'm sure

that there is a moment in your life.

105

:

Where you kept falling into the same pits,

into the same cycles, day in and day out.

106

:

And that's because you

didn't fully surrender.

107

:

You didn't let God guide

you to what he had for you.

108

:

And if you would've just stopped, if

you would've just taken a few steps

109

:

back and analyzed, man, if I wouldn't

have done this so many times, I would've

110

:

gotten into this place much faster.

111

:

And that's exactly what

God wants us to do.

112

:

He wants us to be obedient,

and he wants us to surrender

113

:

so that he can take control.

114

:

And like many people say,

Jesus, take the wheel.

115

:

You need to let him steer you into

the path that was meant for you.

116

:

Now, Proverbs chapter three,

verses five through six says.

117

:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding.

118

:

In all your ways, acknowledge him

and he shall direct your paths.

119

:

My friends money will not

buy you true happiness.

120

:

A marriage will certainly not

bring you joy or fulfillment.

121

:

Sometimes a friendship may not even

end in the way that you expected.

122

:

Our health, our health

will suffer eventually.

123

:

Our health will suffer and will

not last as long as we'd hope.

124

:

But what is guaranteed and what

we can always count on is the

125

:

rest that we find in Jesus.

126

:

The rest that we find in Jesus

through every single battle and every

127

:

single hill and valley in our life.

128

:

He takes us as we are and he takes

all of our burdens for himself.

129

:

Despite all of our faults and

all of our sin, he still chooses

130

:

to serve us and let us rest.

131

:

Think about that.

132

:

We fall short of the glory of God the

Bible says, and he still gives us rest.

133

:

That's beautiful.

134

:

Have you ever met a person that does

that for you for as long as you need it?

135

:

Despite how many times you continue to

mess up time, after time, after time?

136

:

No.

137

:

No.

138

:

That doesn't exist.

139

:

It only exists in Jesus.

140

:

So thank you Lord.

141

:

Thank you.

142

:

Thank you for the never ending mercy.

143

:

Your never ending love Lord.

144

:

Thank you for the rest that you

give my soul, the inexplicable rest

145

:

and love that you fill us with.

146

:

There is nothing like it, my friends.

147

:

There is nothing like it.

148

:

And once you know Jesus, once you

know Jesus, there is no going back.

149

:

When you truly know him, you find it

so hard to let him down, and that's

150

:

when you surrender because you know,

you know that the things that you are

151

:

letting go are going to make him happy.

152

:

Are going to make you one step

closer to reaching that promise, to

153

:

reaching him the same way that he's

reached for you time and time again.

154

:

Philippians chapter four, verse

seven says, and the peace of God,

155

:

which surpasses all understanding

will guard your hearts and

156

:

minds through Christ Jesus.

157

:

Let your heart be guarded, but in Christ.

158

:

Let your heart be guarded, but in

Christ, not by things of the world.

159

:

Surrender all that you are to him and feel

the rest and peace of God that awaits you.

160

:

so my friends, I mean, I can't even,

I can't even begin to explain how much

161

:

my life has changed and in one month.

162

:

Every time that I turn my head, I

say, wow, my life is so different.

163

:

My life was a 180 from a little over a

year ago when I started following Christ.

164

:

But in this month, in this

month, my prayers were answered.

165

:

I got the answers that I was

looking for for a long, long time.

166

:

I saw things revealed to me that I

never expected, but I also am feeling

167

:

so many wonderful emotions and have

so much hope in my heart, and I know

168

:

that it's all because of Christ.

169

:

I know it's all because of Christ, and

I know that he is putting everything

170

:

in place for me just as it should,

just because I planned a trip and

171

:

just because I took that leap of faith

and just because I knew in my heart.

172

:

For so many years that I needed

something different that this was not

173

:

for me, but you question yourself.

174

:

You let the enemy get to you, and

you question yourself a lot of the

175

:

times, my friends, and you can't.

176

:

You can't do that.

177

:

You need to pray and you need to

pray for things to be put right

178

:

in front of you, loud and clear.

179

:

Even if you feel like you're doing

something wrong, sometimes those

180

:

things are going to show you.

181

:

Exactly what it is that you needed.

182

:

Other times it'll take you more prayer, it

will be a little bit quiet, but at the end

183

:

of the day, he makes his message heard,

and I am so glad that I have surrendered

184

:

to God over and over again because I

have fallen, I have fallen, and I have, I

185

:

have sinned, and I have not been perfect.

186

:

And I have most definitely let him

down many, many times, even after I

187

:

was baptized and I became a follower.

188

:

'cause we are, we are not Jesus.

189

:

We are not perfect.

190

:

But what I do know is that

he has never not been there.

191

:

He has never not been there, and

he has never not answered me.

192

:

And that is why I choose to

surrender time and time again.

193

:

Because every time that I have surrendered

and given him my heart and soul.

194

:

He has shown up for me and he has

done a work that only he can do.

195

:

So I pray that you guys

surrender in the same way.

196

:

Give him everything that

you have to give him.

197

:

Every single burden, every single

anxiety that you guys have.

198

:

I pray that you give that to him right

now today, in this very moment, or

199

:

whether you listen to this a year from

now, whoever may listen, I pray that

200

:

you surrender to Christ right now.

201

:

Because only he can do

what you need him to do.

202

:

and like a very important person

once told me, and I quote, when

203

:

we are in tribulation, that

is when he is closest to us.

204

:

None of those things will

move you and it's so true.

205

:

None of those things around us, those

problems, those anxieties, none of

206

:

those things are going to move us

the way that Christ can move us, the

207

:

way that he can put things in our

path to just let us know I am here.

208

:

Thank you for surrendering.

209

:

I am near God and I got you.

210

:

Oh, What an amazing God we have.

211

:

I love you guys.

212

:

I thank you for listening.

213

:

I hope that this has blessed

you in some way, my friends.

214

:

Until next time, take care.

To whoever reads this:
I'm glad you're here and I hope you stay a while. There is something I need to give back to the world - and to you.

That 'something' is my story, my life and my words that were once marked by pain, but are now marked by love and a new found faith in Christ. But hold it right there! Do not be quick to judge. While the root of all my talks are founded in the Bible - do not mistake what I have to say for 'unremarkable' or 'not relatable'.

My story is different than yours. However, if there is one thing we 100% have in common, it's that God has always been with us. If you agree - stick around. If you DON'T agree - stick around too. Let me show the unbeliever, the doubter, and the unsure person, how God has always been there.
