34 | Time is Fleeting

Sometimes the most subtle messages pack the strongest punch. Just like the title of this episode "Time is Fleeting", its a short and quick message. Let's unpack what the Lord has reminded me these past few weeks.

Speaker:

All right everyone, welcome back

to episode 34 of I Can, he Can.

2

:

A big thank you to all 13

of you that tuned in today.

3

:

I see you guys.

4

:

And according to my host website,

captivate fm, there were about

5

:

13 faithful listeners who tuned

in expecting a new episode.

6

:

But my sincerest apologies,

as I have mentioned many times

7

:

before, I won't post an episode.

8

:

I won't post anything new if I'm not

feeling it, if it's not right or if

9

:

it's even rushed, I can't do that.

10

:

I have to do things justice and.

11

:

Having said that, as you know, I mentioned

an episode or two ago that I've been

12

:

dealing with some health related issues.

13

:

So in part, I have been

taking my time to rest.

14

:

I've been taking family time and free

time in general a lot more seriously,

15

:

and yesterday was just one of those days

where I had to do what I had to do and

16

:

I wanted to just focus on other things,

which in fact brings me to today's

17

:

topic of conversation, and that is time.

18

:

So I'm going to read from James chapter

four, verse 13 through 17, and that says,

19

:

come now.

20

:

You who say, today or tomorrow, we will

go to such and such a city to spend a year

21

:

there, buy and sell, and make a profit.

22

:

Whereas you do not know what will

happen tomorrow for what is your life.

23

:

It is even a vapor that appears for

a little time and then vanishes away.

24

:

Instead, you ought to say, if the Lord

wills, we shall live and do this or that.

25

:

But now you boast in your arrogance,

all such boasting as evil.

26

:

Therefore, to him who knows to do good

and does not do it to him, it is sin.

27

:

Have you noticed that time is

going by faster and faster?

28

:

Not only does every year seem to

fly by faster than the one before,

29

:

but in general, the older we get,

the faster it's just passing us by.

30

:

A few weeks ago I was sitting at my

work desk listening to a sermon from

31

:

Bishop Mar Mari, and if you haven't

heard of him, I highly recommend

32

:

that you find him on YouTube.

33

:

But in any case, as I was listening,

I'm not sure why it touched me so

34

:

much, but one of the things that

he mentioned to summarize was.

35

:

That all things that the

Lord created has two sides.

36

:

Now, this is a very general summary of

his discussion, but one of the examples

37

:

that he used was fire and water.

38

:

You use water to drink to quench our

thirst, but water can also be dangerous.

39

:

Someone can drown in a body of water.

40

:

There are two sides.

41

:

Another is fire.

42

:

We can use fire to heat to warm things up.

43

:

We can use fire to cook.

44

:

And of course you know where the last one

is going and the burning of fire, even

45

:

smoke from the fire can lead to death.

46

:

But now back to our topic of

conversation and you guessed it.

47

:

That is time and just like in time in

my last episode, I read about the moment

48

:

where Jesus was being crucified and he was

beside two of the criminals on the cross.

49

:

This was also a perfect example

of how one can use time wisely.

50

:

So

51

:

we can use the gift of time to draw closer

to Christ, or we can continue with our

52

:

foolery and draw farther away from him.

53

:

So if you recall one of the criminals that

was next to Jesus mocked him the other.

54

:

In a way defended Jesus and showed

remorse and true repentance, the

55

:

one that mock Jesus suffered not

only a physical death, but also had

56

:

a spiritual and an eternal death.

57

:

The criminal that repented used

that moment to seek the Lord in a

58

:

matter of seconds, his eternal life

was saved because of the way that

59

:

he used his last seconds on earth.

60

:

As I finished Bishop Mars message that

day, I remember sitting at my work desk

61

:

and I was wondering if the way that we

perceive time is not just a coincidence.

62

:

We already know that God

is creator of all things.

63

:

Literally everything we see,

feel, hear, touch, was created

64

:

by him and has a purpose.

65

:

So how about time itself?

66

:

When we were kids, we didn't

really feel time fleeting.

67

:

A single day in school

felt like an eternity.

68

:

We couldn't wait to leave to get home

to do the things that we wanted to do.

69

:

It felt like we were there for a

week instead of just eight hours.

70

:

You didn't see the time passing

you by the way that you see it now.

71

:

But of course now as we grow older and

we're adults, we know it all too well.

72

:

There are not enough

hours in a single day.

73

:

So ask yourself, what if

the quote time is fleeting?

74

:

that feeling or realization is

a form or a type of message that

75

:

we receive from the Holy Spirit.

76

:

Could it be that when we become aware

of how time is in fact passing us

77

:

by, that that is God trying to awaken

us through the spirit to show us

78

:

that we don't have that much time.

79

:

Now, I'm not trying to be morbid

but I don't want you guys to

80

:

misinterpret what I'm trying to convey

here and this is just a thought.

81

:

It's my opinion.

82

:

However, this is how I felt the

spirit speaking to me and moving

83

:

that day as I was watching Bishop Mar

and I truly think that the Lord was

84

:

using him in that message to remind

me that this is a very real thing.

85

:

We will all die.

86

:

So, like I said earlier, there

are two sides to everything

87

:

and that's also in death.

88

:

there are only two options

of where you will go.

89

:

And I'm not going to get into all of that,

but you know what those two options are.

90

:

And with that said.

91

:

Analyze the speed in which time

is passing by in your life.

92

:

Where are you in your walk?

93

:

What are you doing with your time?

94

:

Have you heard of Jesus recently

more and more than ever before?

95

:

Are you struggling with the

same things over and over and

96

:

you feel like you're stuck?

97

:

Sometimes these things could be signs

that the Lord is trying to call you

98

:

by name, so stop being stubborn.

99

:

and just analyze what it is

that you are doing and what it

100

:

is that's happening around you.

101

:

And so is the speed at which your life

is passing by you safe to where if you

102

:

were gone tomorrow, you would be okay.

103

:

We need to really ask ourselves

that because what we are doing now.

104

:

It is going to truly matter

if we don't wake up tomorrow.

105

:

And that's sometimes something

that not a lot of people wanna

106

:

think about, but it's a reality.

107

:

So if you ask yourself that question,

and if you're not going to be okay, then

108

:

let this be your wake up call to seek the

Lord, to give your life to Christ with

109

:

true repentance before it's too late.

110

:

It's so easy to forget to

praise or even pray before bed.

111

:

We need to have that realization

and be cognizant of how much

112

:

time we spend with the Lord.

113

:

Not just a few minutes before

we fall asleep and call it a

114

:

day, nothing is guaranteed.

115

:

Not even if we will arise in the morning.

116

:

And side note, let this also serve

you as a reminder to not settle.

117

:

Don't settle for the things

that don't bring you peace,

118

:

that don't bring you happiness.

119

:

Don't settle for things that are

going to keep you away from the Lord.

120

:

Now let's read Psalm chapter

90, verse 12 through 15.

121

:

So teach us to number our days that

we may gain a heart of wisdom return.

122

:

Oh Lord, how long?

123

:

And have compassion on your servants.

124

:

Oh, satisfy.

125

:

Us early with your mercy that

we may rejoice and be glad

126

:

all our days make us glad.

127

:

According to the days in which

you have afflicted us, the year

128

:

in which we have seen evil,

129

:

are you satisfied with your life?

130

:

A lot of people are probably gonna

say yes, but truly, if you think

131

:

about it, you're probably going to

say to yourself that you are not.

132

:

And if you're not satisfied,

133

:

it's probably because you haven't

made the most of the gift that

134

:

you've been given, and that's time.

135

:

Time is fleeting and it's not

something that should be looked over.

136

:

Same thing goes for our faith

and our belief in the Lord.

137

:

If you have seen the Lord move

in your life, just know that.

138

:

He and Time are one.

139

:

He and creation are one.

140

:

As fast as he created the

world, he will return.

141

:

So do not waste this precious gift

haste towards your Heavenly Father.

142

:

The time is now.

143

:

Thank you all for listening.

144

:

I know this was a short episode, but

sometimes it's better to keep it concise.

145

:

And straight to the point.

146

:

I hope you guys stay tuned next week

'cause we'll be diving into the book of

147

:

Ecclesiastes in the Sound Mind series.

148

:

God bless you and take care

To whoever reads this:
I'm glad you're here and I hope you stay a while. There is something I need to give back to the world - and to you.

That 'something' is my story, my life and my words that were once marked by pain, but are now marked by love and a new found faith in Christ. But hold it right there! Do not be quick to judge. While the root of all my talks are founded in the Bible - do not mistake what I have to say for 'unremarkable' or 'not relatable'.

My story is different than yours. However, if there is one thing we 100% have in common, it's that God has always been with us. If you agree - stick around. If you DON'T agree - stick around too. Let me show the unbeliever, the doubter, and the unsure person, how God has always been there.
