Speaker:

Hi everyone.

2

:

Welcome back to another

episode of I Can't He Can.

3

:

I'm Sarai and I am your host.

4

:

Today we are going to be discussing

and continuing through the Sound Mind

5

:

series in the book of Ecclesiastes.

6

:

Specifically chapter six.

7

:

Before we get into the reading of that,

which is a very, very short chapter,

8

:

um, I did want to go ahead and remind

you guys to please, please, please

9

:

always have your Bibles with you.

10

:

Please do not take anything that I

say as for fact, a loving and kind

11

:

reminder that everything that I talk

about in this podcast as a whole

12

:

is simply my interpretation, my ex.

13

:

Experiences, what I have come

across, um, in my life and the ins

14

:

and outs of things that I deal with.

15

:

And of course, I am reading directly

from my new King James version.

16

:

like always, you guys need to

read the word for yourself.

17

:

Not only is it going to also speak

to you in a different way, but.

18

:

You're definitely gonna get a better

understanding and you're gonna build

19

:

your relationship with Christ even more,

which that is the point of this podcast.

20

:

The point of this podcast is not

to just hear me talk and ramble

21

:

and go into all these like crazy.

22

:

Loopholes of what my brain deciphers these

scriptures that I'm reading to be about.

23

:

No, this is because I want you

guys to grow a deeper and more

24

:

meaningful relationship with God,

with Christ and the Holy Spirit, and

25

:

I really, really pray that

whoever, um, let's just say reads

26

:

this, but whoever reads the Bible

and whoever hears this podcast.

27

:

Um, truly is moved by the content

of it, and not because of the person

28

:

talking directly at you or that you

are listening to, but because at the

29

:

end of the day, what I am reading and

what I am sharing is the power of God,

30

:

and is love, and is truth, and is all

things that are good because we may look

31

:

at our trials and our tribulations as

bad things, but at the end of the day.

32

:

We have to be grateful

for those things too.

33

:

We have to be grateful that they are

showing us something, that they're making

34

:

us wiser, that they're making us stronger,

and that these things are shaping us

35

:

to also perhaps be the words of wisdom

that someone needs to hear one day.

36

:

And then when that day

comes, we'll be like, ah.

37

:

And that's why I went

through that tough time.

38

:

I was being prepared to be here

for my child, or I was being

39

:

prepared for being here for my

neighbor who is not my best friend.

40

:

You just never know.

41

:

So again, because again, you

see, I just started rambling.

42

:

Um, you guys please read for

yourself and if you don't know

43

:

where to start, I think where it's.

44

:

easiest for people to start is

probably in Psalms and in Proverbs.

45

:

Um, but definitely just open the

Bible, open the Bible, and it will

46

:

speak to you at the right time.

47

:

It will pull you in closer

to God, and at the end of the

48

:

day, that is all that we need.

49

:

So without further ado, I'm going to start

the reading of Ecclesiastes chapter six.

50

:

All right you guys.

51

:

So I took a brief pause before

I actually started reading.

52

:

I'm telling you, I think every time

that I'm going to record, either it

53

:

gets really hot or the neighbor's dog

just starts barking incessantly and

54

:

like a bark here and there, whatever.

55

:

You know, I live in an apartment

complex where there's dogs

56

:

like in every other house.

57

:

but then.

58

:

They started cutting the grass

and it's just, just made me

59

:

really hot and really anxious.

60

:

And you know what?

61

:

The enemy knows what we're

doing and I rebuke you, Satan.

62

:

I rebuke any form of negativity,

in the name of Jesus Christ.

63

:

You have no authority in this house.

64

:

You have no authority

over me or over this.

65

:

Podcast, and I am just praying to you,

Jesus, that you continue to cover me.

66

:

You continue to cover all of the people

that are listening, that are tuning in.

67

:

I rebuke any sort of negativity

around this and around your word

68

:

God, because your word needs to make

it to every person that needs it.

69

:

Everyone has to hear your word, Lord.

70

:

And your word says that every person is

going to hear that is when you come back.

71

:

It's because everyone has heard.

72

:

And Lord, I thank you.

73

:

I thank you for your constant covering.

74

:

I thank you for patience and

everything that I need so that I can

75

:

be well equipped to continue to read

your word and interpret in my own

76

:

personal way, but for those people

that need it and that need you, God.

77

:

So thank you, Lord.

78

:

I love you and I praise you, and it's in

the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray.

79

:

Amen.

80

:

And again, guys, I'm sorry

if you hear any sounds.

81

:

I'm doing my best to clean it up,

but we're just gonna roll with the

82

:

punches after my little sip of coffee.

83

:

We're going to start again.

84

:

Ecclesiastes chapter six.

85

:

For those of you that are listening, audio

version, I just took a sip of my coffee.

86

:

Nothing like drinking a nice cup

of coffee and reading the word.

87

:

Alright, Ecclesiastes, chapter six.

88

:

Okay.

89

:

There is an evil, which I have seen

under the sun, and it is common among

90

:

men, a man to whom God has given riches

and wealth and honor so that he lacks

91

:

nothing for himself of all he desires.

92

:

Yet God does not give him power to eat

of it, but a foreigner consumes it.

93

:

That is vanity and it

is an evil affliction.

94

:

Verse three.

95

:

If a man begets a hundred children

and lives many years so that the days

96

:

of his years are many, but his soul

is not satisfied with goodness, or

97

:

indeed he has no burial, I say that

a stillborn child is better than he.

98

:

Verse four, for it comes in vanity

and departs in darkness, and its

99

:

name is covered with darkness.

100

:

Verse five, though it has not

seen the sun or known anything.

101

:

This has more rest than that man.

102

:

Verse six.

103

:

Even if he lives a thousand years

twice, but has not seen goodness,

104

:

do not all go to one place.

105

:

Verse seven, all the labor of

a man is for his mouth, and

106

:

yet the soul is not satisfied.

107

:

Verse eight.

108

:

For what more has the

wise man than the fool?

109

:

What does the poor man have?

110

:

Who knows how to walk before the living?

111

:

Verse nine.

112

:

Better is the sight of the eyes

than the wandering of desire.

113

:

This is also vanity and

grasping for the wind.

114

:

Verse 10,

115

:

whatever one is he has been named already.

116

:

Hmm.

117

:

For it is known that he is man

and he cannot contend with him.

118

:

H meaning God.

119

:

And he cannot contend with

him who is mightier than he.

120

:

Verse 11.

121

:

Since there are many things that

increase vanity, how is man better?

122

:

Verse 12.

123

:

For who knows what is good for

man in life, all the days of his

124

:

vain life, which he passes like

a shadow, who can tell a man what

125

:

will happen after him under the sun?

126

:

This was a very short

chapter, very short chapter.

127

:

However, there are still as

always, a lot of important

128

:

things that we can take from it.

129

:

So to recap some of the notes that I

have on here, and you guys always know

130

:

that my Bible is full of little notes.

131

:

These are all my little

notes for chapter six.

132

:

But going back to the very start

of it, I have underlined here.

133

:

On the end of verse two.

134

:

Verse two says, A man to whom God

has given riches and wealth and

135

:

honor so that he lacks nothing

for himself of all he desires.

136

:

So God gives riches and wealth.

137

:

God provides.

138

:

God is our provider.

139

:

Everything that we have.

140

:

Is from God.

141

:

And here again it says that God provides

the w, the riches, wealth, and honor

142

:

so that we do not lack anything.

143

:

But then this is what I have here

after at the end of verse two

144

:

yet, and I have that circled yet.

145

:

God does not give him power to eat

of it, but a foreigner consumes it.

146

:

So I'm understanding that in this verse.

147

:

It's saying that God gives.

148

:

Wealth and honor, meaning like he makes

a person rich, but the poor are the

149

:

ones that actually get to enjoy it.

150

:

Now, if you remember in previous, chapters

that we read, Solomon is talking about

151

:

how he has all of the riches, or, you

know, a man has all of the riches, and

152

:

the poor work for that rich man yet.

153

:

The rich man never actually gets

rest, never sleeps well, but the

154

:

humble person, the poor person,

actually enjoy their labor.

155

:

So I guess in a nutshell, this is kind of

recapping that in a more simple, Phrase.

156

:

So let's read that again

so that that can log in.

157

:

Verse two, A man to whom God

has given riches and wealth and

158

:

honor so that he lacks nothing

for himself of all he desires.

159

:

Yet God does not give him power to eat

of it, but a foreigner consumes it.

160

:

So that's my interpretation.

161

:

I hope that makes sense.

162

:

If it doesn't, you guys

know how to reach out to me.

163

:

and I'm happy to have a conversation

about all these interpretations

164

:

and what Solomon is talking about.

165

:

But moving on, lemme see what

my little note here says.

166

:

Work and don't enjoy.

167

:

Yeah, I put a little note here that says,

work and don't enjoy the fruit of labor.

168

:

That's very true.

169

:

Sometimes it's just work, work, work.

170

:

And then we don't even get to.

171

:

Sit and take a deep breath and enjoy

everything that we are working for.

172

:

Very true.

173

:

Then I have, verse three was a

little, seemed a little like a

174

:

downer to me, a little morbid.

175

:

but it says, if a man begets a hundred

children and lives many years, so

176

:

that the days of his years are many,

but as always, yours always like a.

177

:

how was Cuban?

178

:

So, but his soul is not

satisfied with that.

179

:

Excuse me.

180

:

His soul is not satisfied with

goodness, or indeed he has no burial.

181

:

I say that a stillborn

child is better than he.

182

:

So there's a lot there.

183

:

honestly, so it's saying if a

man can have a hundred children

184

:

and live many, many years.

185

:

So that the days of his years are many.

186

:

So obviously the days

of his years are many.

187

:

He's gonna live a lot of things

throughout those years, says, but his

188

:

soul is not satisfied with goodness.

189

:

So if your heart is not right, if you are

not satisfied with what you have with your

190

:

children, with your family, with whatever

labor it is that you do, it's better that.

191

:

You have a, a stillborn child is

better than he or better than, you

192

:

know, having all those children

because children are goodness.

193

:

labor, having a job is a blessing.

194

:

So you just kinda have to

like shift your perspective.

195

:

sometimes I think, in my opinion,

of course, all this is my opinion.

196

:

I feel like sometimes you have to shift

your perspective when you're reading

197

:

some things, because of course this

was written in a very different time.

198

:

so there's a lot of goodness that

we have in our life that we take for

199

:

granted, but in these times, having

many, many children was, was a thing,

200

:

especially if they were, you know,

young men or would become young men.

201

:

but if you're not satisfied with the

goodness of beginning hundreds of

202

:

children or having many children,

then you may as well have a

203

:

stillborn and not have children.

204

:

So if you look at it that way, it's like,

why are you going to work and do all

205

:

this work and then not sit and enjoy it?

206

:

Or why are you even gonna have one child

nowadays and not take the time to get to

207

:

know them, to love them, to teach them?

208

:

You may as well just focus on yourself

and not have children, which children are

209

:

a blessing, as crazy as they drive us.

210

:

But it is very true.

211

:

You know, you can't,

212

:

you can't.

213

:

You reap what you sow, right?

214

:

You kind of reap what you sow.

215

:

You have children, you

have to be a parent.

216

:

You can't just have children to

have them and say you have them.

217

:

Anyway, I digress because this is just,

we're, we're getting outta line here.

218

:

Getting outta line here.

219

:

The rambling is.

220

:

Is rambling.

221

:

My little side note here, I put a

stillborn is better than a parent who

222

:

cannot find goodness in parenting.

223

:

Yeah, basically I should have

just read my note Anyway, so

224

:

skipping over to verse nine.

225

:

I put better and I circled better because

I feel like that's kind of like a way that

226

:

Solomon says, okay, we're stopping here.

227

:

So a comparison.

228

:

It's either this or that.

229

:

So then it says, better is the sight of

the eyes than the wandering of desire.

230

:

And my note here says to see, rather

than sin or desire, I don't know why

231

:

I wrote that note, 'cause now I'm

interpreting it a little bit different.

232

:

again, it just maybe spoke to me

in a different way at the time.

233

:

but it's like, why are we

going to continue seeking more?

234

:

That's what I feel like I'm

understanding right now.

235

:

Why always moving on to the next thing.

236

:

Why moving?

237

:

Why do we have to have a wandering eye

and continuing to seek that desire?

238

:

We need to be content.

239

:

We need to be content with what we

have because if we're not content

240

:

with what we have, then we can't

steward these things properly.

241

:

Yeah.

242

:

So for example, if God gives

us a, the opportunity to

243

:

purchase our first house, right?

244

:

You know, which God willing I will have,

you know, my own home one day, right?

245

:

But if we don't take care of that house,

we don't put love into that house.

246

:

How is it that he is going

to prepare us to maybe have

247

:

a bigger house in the future?

248

:

And it's the same thing with a job.

249

:

Like how are you going to want to ask

for all of these perks in your job and

250

:

then you're not gonna do a good job.

251

:

So anyway, so you can't have

that like tunnel vision.

252

:

You need to focus on what you have

now, really, work on your craft and

253

:

like perfect whatever it is that

you're doing, so that then you can be

254

:

prepared and move on to the next thing.

255

:

So work on that wandering

eye and those desires.

256

:

'cause sometimes.

257

:

It's okay to be content and

have what you have right now.

258

:

moving on to verse 10, whatever

one is he has been named already

259

:

for it is known that he is man

and cannot contend with him.

260

:

So I put here we are who we

are and God named us already.

261

:

Those are facts, like sometimes

we try to change people.

262

:

Only God can change a person.

263

:

We need to stop trying to change people.

264

:

We can't change ourselves.

265

:

We need the help of God to work

in us so that we can actually

266

:

change and be transformed.

267

:

and then it says, and he cannot contend

with him who is mightier than he.

268

:

And I put, we can't challenge the

Lord and we can't, like, why are

269

:

we going to go against the grain

and say, I'm, I wanna do this.

270

:

I'm gonna go here.

271

:

When you keep having roadblocks, analyze.

272

:

Right now in your life,

you keep having roadblocks.

273

:

You keep having these things that

are clear as day saying don't do it.

274

:

And you wanna contend with him.

275

:

You want to go against him.

276

:

You want to again, go against the

green and and fight what it is that

277

:

is clear as day a no, and a sign

from God that you should not proceed.

278

:

So we need to stop contending

with him because at the end

279

:

of the day, he knows best.

280

:

He created us.

281

:

He knows our story.

282

:

He knows the beginning, he knows

the middle, and he knows the end.

283

:

And the last thing, my little side

note here on verse 12 says, only

284

:

God with an exclamation point.

285

:

And that says, for who knows

what is good for man in life.

286

:

And literally just that only God,

only God knows what's good for us.

287

:

We are not born wise.

288

:

We are made wiser.

289

:

as we continue to struggle and

to learn hard lessons, so we need

290

:

to stop thinking that we know

it all because we clearly don't.

291

:

Only the Lord knows and he knows

again how we are going to end up.

292

:

And the more that we are still,

the more that we listen, the more

293

:

that we take a step back and we

analyze our surroundings, what we're

294

:

doing, what he's trying to tell us.

295

:

I feel that that really is going

to get us in a better direction.

296

:

So I know this was a very short

chapter, but I hope and I pray that

297

:

you guys got some good nuggets from it

and some good information as always.

298

:

Please open up your

Bibles, read for yourself.

299

:

I truly pray that you guys are

enjoying this book because it's

300

:

as difficult as it was for me to

understand the first go around.

301

:

it actually is very, very, it's

kind of like a handbook of how to

302

:

do life and like what not to do.

303

:

'cause I already been there, done that.

304

:

But anyway, my friends, thank you again.

305

:

I love you guys so much.

306

:

I'll see you again next Monday for

another series of I Can't He Can.

307

:

I love you.

308

:

God bless you and take care.

To whoever reads this:
I'm glad you're here and I hope you stay a while. There is something I need to give back to the world - and to you.

That 'something' is my story, my life and my words that were once marked by pain, but are now marked by love and a new found faith in Christ. But hold it right there! Do not be quick to judge. While the root of all my talks are founded in the Bible - do not mistake what I have to say for 'unremarkable' or 'not relatable'.

My story is different than yours. However, if there is one thing we 100% have in common, it's that God has always been with us. If you agree - stick around. If you DON'T agree - stick around too. Let me show the unbeliever, the doubter, and the unsure person, how God has always been there.
