He Is Risen! Mark Ch 15 & 16 (Resurrection Sunday Episode)

Transcript
Speaker:

All right, everyone.

2

:

Welcome back to another

episode of I Can't, king Can.

3

:

This is episode 38 and it is

Resurrection Sunday, so happy

4

:

resurrection Sunday to you guys.

5

:

I hope you had an amazing and blessed

day, and if you had an amazing and

6

:

blessed day, all glory to our Lord

and Savior Jesus Christ, because it

7

:

is because of him, because of his

sacrifice that we are here, that we have.

8

:

More life to live and that we have all

of the blessings and all of the provision

9

:

that he has provided to us, and not

just that our greatest gift of all is

10

:

the Holy Spirit and his salvation that

came through his sacrifice on the cross.

11

:

So you know what you

guys, I truly hope that.

12

:

With time because it took me some time

to understand what today was about.

13

:

Um, but I really do hope that you

guys can grow closer to God and

14

:

closer at a closer relationship with

Jesus and really understand what

15

:

his sacrifice on the cross meant and

what it means to us individually.

16

:

Um, because everyone has a different

perspective of the sacrifice, even though.

17

:

The entire world benefits from it if

we declare him our Lord and Savior,

18

:

and we believe that he was crucified

for our sins and rose on the third day.

19

:

If we believe we can all benefit and enjoy

and share the everlasting life that we

20

:

are promised with Jesus and with God, but.

21

:

Not everyone is there yet.

22

:

Not everyone is there yet, so I encourage

you to pray for those around you.

23

:

I encourage you to pray for your family.

24

:

I know I for sure have

to do that a lot more.

25

:

And I really did realize that in

the past, um, few weeks or so, that

26

:

I don't pray for my own family, my,

my own blood as much as I should.

27

:

And it pains me to say that, um, it is.

28

:

A little bit embarrassing.

29

:

Honestly, as a, as a Christian,

you would think that I am praying

30

:

for everyone, and truth be told my

friends, is that we are not perfect.

31

:

And sometimes our family is the one

that sees the most imperfections in us.

32

:

And sometimes that just kind

of, you know, bounces off of

33

:

each other and we just kind of.

34

:

Well, I just kind of forget what's

important and their salvation is

35

:

just as important as my salvation.

36

:

So I am going to continue praying.

37

:

And again, I encourage you guys

to pray for your own families as

38

:

well because we tend to forget.

39

:

We tend to forget that.

40

:

And even though we, we have moments in

which, um, you know, things happen, uh,

41

:

between family, even friends, uh, it

is important to pray for each other.

42

:

Because there is nothing

stronger than prayer.

43

:

Through prayer and supplication, we can

draw closer to Christ and he can be moved.

44

:

He can be moved by our prayers.

45

:

And, and it may not always be

what we want, but we for sure can

46

:

get what we need through prayer.

47

:

And if that's just getting closer

to Jesus, then we have it all.

48

:

But, um, I do want to.

49

:

Uh, shift a little bit

because today is resurrection.

50

:

Sunday, I was going to do a special

episode with a friend of mine, but that

51

:

didn't pan out the way that I expected it.

52

:

Um, this entire weekend was

just, uh, a blur, honestly.

53

:

But sometimes things just happen for a

reason, and while we may say, oh, things

54

:

happen for a reason, you know, it's not.

55

:

How you think it is, it's

really just God's will.

56

:

As I was showering, um, I was thinking

kind of what to say, what to talk

57

:

about today because I, even though

I do have to continue with the Sound

58

:

Mind series and Ecclesiastes, um, I

wanted to take a pause because again,

59

:

today is Resurrection Sunday and

what more important than to discuss.

60

:

Then Jesus, there's

nothing more important.

61

:

And even though this show is about Jesus,

um, today is the most important day.

62

:

So anyway, I digress with that.

63

:

Um, but as I was showering, I had

the thought of, wow, my plans for

64

:

today's episode did not go well.

65

:

Um, not that anything bad

happened, but I planned and

66

:

planned for about a week or so.

67

:

Um, with this, um, person to, to

go ahead and record the episode.

68

:

And it was just one thing after

the other and it didn't happen.

69

:

And then I had this thought, it was like

clear, clear conversation in my head, and

70

:

I'm pretty sure that the Lord put that

in, in my head to share with you because

71

:

I kept repeating it to myself after.

72

:

Um, and those words were.

73

:

You can only go as far as God's will.

74

:

You can only go as far as God's

will and man, it is so true.

75

:

It is so true because if you think

about it, there are times where you plan

76

:

and you wait six months, for example,

to plan a trip and to do something,

77

:

and you do it and it's amazing.

78

:

But then there's other times where

you plan for even longer or maybe

79

:

even shorter time than six months.

80

:

And no matter what you do, how you

plan, where you go, it does not pan out.

81

:

So that just kind of

goes to show you that.

82

:

And at the end of the day,

everything that we do is God's will.

83

:

And sometimes I do know from, you know,

from Sunday services, um, at my new church

84

:

and even things that I have been reading

on my own, I have gotten bits and pieces.

85

:

Um, so pardon me that I don't

actually have the scripture.

86

:

Um, so don't quote me, but to the

effect of that, sometimes God allows.

87

:

Certain things in your

life or things to happen.

88

:

Um, not to teach us a lesson, but I

guess to show us that his will will

89

:

allow us to go up to a certain point.

90

:

But when it's a no, it's a no.

91

:

And whether we specifically hear a

no or receive a no in the form of

92

:

someone telling us, no, this isn't

gonna work, or, you know, for.

93

:

Th lack of a great example.

94

:

Sometimes there's just

silence and that's also a no.

95

:

And God's will is very powerful.

96

:

Um, so I just kind of wanted to talk

about that for a moment because I

97

:

really had those words ingrained in my

mind as I was thinking of my planning

98

:

and over-planning for today's episode.

99

:

Um, you can only go as far as God's will.

100

:

And man, I don't think I'm

ever gonna forget that.

101

:

So I really hope that you guys also

take those words into account because

102

:

maybe there is something in your

life that you are trying to plan

103

:

for and it's just not working out.

104

:

So maybe just kind of put it

on the back burner for a bit.

105

:

Not because you're giving up, because

giving up or stopping something or

106

:

slowing down on something is not.

107

:

Uh, it's not a a, a, a nag on you that has

nothing to do with your character or who

108

:

you are, but sometimes it's good to just

take a pause, collect yourself, collect

109

:

your thoughts, and then maybe try again.

110

:

Maybe you'll do better the next round.

111

:

However, if you continue, you

continue, you're eventually

112

:

gonna push through that door.

113

:

But if it's not God's will,

it's not gonna go well.

114

:

That's all I gotta say.

115

:

Again today, resurrection Sunday.

116

:

Thank you Lord.

117

:

Thank you, Jesus for your sacrifice.

118

:

Thank you for everything, not only

what you do in our daily lives and

119

:

all the provision that you give us,

all of the blessings that we have

120

:

around us, the blessings that we

forget about day in and day out.

121

:

But thank you Lord for your

sacrifice on the cross and thank you.

122

:

Thank you for, for.

123

:

Leaving the proof behind for the world

to know with your word, with the Bible,

124

:

that we can go back to and we can read

and we can share what it is that you

125

:

did for us, Lord, because we want to

take as many people with us as possible.

126

:

We wanna take as many people

with us as possible, Lord.

127

:

So we thank you for your word.

128

:

We thank you for what it means.

129

:

We thank you that.

130

:

You loved us enough.

131

:

You loved us more than enough that

you loved us, period as horrible

132

:

and as not shiny as we are.

133

:

Um, we thank you, father, that

you give us grace and grace.

134

:

Your grace abounds.

135

:

Your grace is endless.

136

:

Your mercy really has no bounds.

137

:

Time and time again, we mess up and time

and time again, you are still there.

138

:

So I pray, Lord, that the, that the

person on the other side of this

139

:

is listening and they can think of

the things that they continue to

140

:

do that grieve you just like me.

141

:

I do not, I, I do not stand on the, on

the sideline and say that I'm perfect.

142

:

I continue to grieve you too, God.

143

:

And I am sorry Lord, for falling

short and we will always fall short.

144

:

But I, I'm sorry God, for falling short

of the things that I know upset you and I

145

:

know sadden you yet I continue to do them.

146

:

So I pray that the person on the other

side of this can also take a moment

147

:

to think of those things that they

continue to do time and time again.

148

:

And I pray that you break.

149

:

That cycle that you

break that chain in us.

150

:

I pray that you remove the

need for us to do those things.

151

:

I break, I, excuse me.

152

:

I, I pray that you break whatever

situation it is that we have in

153

:

our lives that no longer serves us,

whether it be a job, a relationship,

154

:

an action, a way that we speak.

155

:

A way that we treat

people, whatever it is.

156

:

I pray that you break that in our

lives, that you sever those ties

157

:

and that we never think about it.

158

:

That we never want to

deal with it ever again.

159

:

Because before we even get to that place,

we think of you Lord, and we seek you

160

:

Lord, and we pray to you, father, and we

bring those things to your feet, Lord.

161

:

That we bring those things to your feet

where nothing that is dark can get near.

162

:

So I thank you, father.

163

:

I thank you, Lord.

164

:

I thank you for all of these

things that you've done for us.

165

:

Thank you Lord for your, your love, your

sacrifice for absolutely everything.

166

:

God, my words are not enough.

167

:

My words will never be enough.

168

:

I love you and I praise you.

169

:

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray.

170

:

Amen.

171

:

You guys, so I'm going to read Mark

chapter 15 and I was looking over

172

:

Matthew and I know that a lot of people,

um, love reading the part in Matthew.

173

:

I believe it was like.

174

:

Chapter 24, 23.

175

:

Um, it escapes me now, so I'm, I'm sorry,

but I know that most people like reading

176

:

through Matthew for the portion of

scripture where Jesus is being crucified.

177

:

But looking through the Bible today,

I was reading Mark, and I think it

178

:

puts it together more concisely from

the moment where Jesus is facing.

179

:

Pilot all the way through when Baras

takes his place and when the soldiers

180

:

mock him, and then when he is on the

cross, when he dies, and then when he is

181

:

in the tomb and eventually resurrects.

182

:

So I wanted to read Mark chapter 15.

183

:

I'm not going to stop and, um,

narrate anything while I'm reading.

184

:

I just wanna read it through slowly and.

185

:

Hopefully you guys on the other

side will just take it in and really

186

:

grasp and understand these final

days and final moments in the life of

187

:

Jesus and what he was going through.

188

:

Um, I pray that these words from the

scriptures, directly from the scriptures,

189

:

no interpretation by any means from me.

190

:

I really hope and pray

that they reach your heart.

191

:

Um, if you are listening and you are not.

192

:

A follower of Jesus Christ.

193

:

You have not given your life and

surrendered your life to Jesus

194

:

Christ, our Lord and Savior.

195

:

I pray that you do.

196

:

I pray that these words and these things

that he went through really weigh heavy

197

:

on your heart because there is nothing

heavier than the burden and the pain

198

:

and the suffering that he endured.

199

:

So if you could only understand and bear.

200

:

The words that I'm reading

and it truly, truly move you.

201

:

Um, I pray that it would

be closer to Jesus.

202

:

So without further ado, I'm

going to read Mark chapter 15.

203

:

Immediately in the morning, the chief

priests held a consultation with the

204

:

elders and scribes and the whole council.

205

:

And they bound.

206

:

Jesus led him away and

delivered him to Pilate.

207

:

Then Pilate asked him, are

you the king of the Jews?

208

:

He answered and said to him, it is, as

you say, and the chief priests accused him

209

:

of many things, but he answered nothing.

210

:

Then Pilate asked him again

saying, do you answer nothing?

211

:

See how many things they testify

against you, but Jesus still answered

212

:

nothing so that Pilate marveled.

213

:

Now at the feast, he was accustomed

to releasing one prisoner to

214

:

them, whomever they requested,

and there was one name, Barba.

215

:

Who was chained with his fellow

rebels, they had committed

216

:

murder in the rebellion.

217

:

Then the multitude crying aloud

began to ask him to do just as

218

:

he had always done for them.

219

:

But Pilate answered them

saying, do you want me to

220

:

release you to King of the Jews?

221

:

For He knew the chief priest had handed

him over because of envy, but the chief

222

:

priest stirred up the crowd so that he

should rather release baras to them.

223

:

Pilate answered and said to them again.

224

:

What then do you want me to do with him?

225

:

Capital H, meaning Jesus.

226

:

What then do you want me to do with him?

227

:

Whom you call the king of the Jews.

228

:

So they cried out again, crucify him.

229

:

Then Pilate said to them,

why, what evil has he done?

230

:

But they cried out all

the more crucify him.

231

:

So Pilate wanting to gratify the

crowd released Baras to them,

232

:

and he delivered Jesus after he

had scorched him to be crucified.

233

:

Then the soldiers led him away into the

hall called pre auditorium, and, and

234

:

they called together the whole Garris.

235

:

And they clothed him with purple

and they twisted a crown of thorns,

236

:

put it on his head, and began to

salute him, hail king of the Jews.

237

:

Then they struck him on the head with a

reed and spat on him and bowing the knee.

238

:

They worshiped him and when they

had mocked him, they took the

239

:

purple off him, put his crown.

240

:

Put his clothes on him and

led him out to crucify him.

241

:

Then they compelled a certain man,

Simon of Sian, the father of Alexander

242

:

and Rufuss as he was coming out of the

country and passing by to bear his cross,

243

:

and they brought him to the place gha,

which is translated place of a skull.

244

:

Then they gave him wine, mingled with

myrrh to drink, but he did not take it.

245

:

And when they crucified him, they divided

his garments, casting lots for them to

246

:

determine what every man should take.

247

:

Now it was the third hour and they

crucified him, and the inscription on

248

:

and the inscription of his accusation

was written above the king of the Jews.

249

:

With him, they also crucified

two robbers, one on his right

250

:

and the other on his left.

251

:

So the scripture was fulfilled, which

says, and he was numbered with the

252

:

transgressors, and those who passed

by blaspheme, him wagging their heads

253

:

and saying, aha, you who destroy the

temple and build it in three days, save

254

:

yourself and come down from the cross.

255

:

Likewise, the chief priests also

mocking among themselves with the

256

:

scribes said he saved others himself.

257

:

He cannot save.

258

:

Let the Christ, the King of Israel,

descend now from the cross that we

259

:

may see and believe even those who

were crucified with him reviled him.

260

:

Now, when the sixth hour had come,

there was darkness over the whole

261

:

land until the ninth hour, and at the

ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a

262

:

loud voice saying, Eli, Eli Lama Ani.

263

:

Which is translated, my God, my

God, why have you forsaken me?

264

:

Some of those who stood by when they heard

that said, look, he is calling for Elijah.

265

:

Then someone ran and filled a sponge

full of sour wine, put it on a reed

266

:

and offered it to him to drink.

267

:

Same.

268

:

Let him alone.

269

:

Let us see if Elijah will come to take

him down, and Jesus cried out with

270

:

a loud voice and breathed his laugh.

271

:

Then the veil of the temple was

torn in two from top to bottom.

272

:

So when the centurion who stood

opposite him saw that he cried out like

273

:

this and breathed his last, he said,

truly this man was the son of God.

274

:

There were also women looking from

afar among who were Mary Magdalene.

275

:

Mary, the mother of James and less of

Joseph and Salome, who also followed

276

:

him and ministered to him when he was

in Galilee and many other women who

277

:

came up with, with him to Jerusalem.

278

:

Now, when evening had come, because it

was the preparation day, that is the

279

:

day before the Sabbath, Joseph and a a

prominent council member who was with.

280

:

Himself waiting for the kingdom

of God, coming and taking courage.

281

:

Went into Pilate and asked

for the body of Jesus.

282

:

Pilate, marveled that he was already

dead and summoning the centurion.

283

:

He asked him if I had

been dead for some time,

284

:

excuse me.

285

:

Asked if he had been dead for some time.

286

:

So when he found out from the centurion,

he granted the body to Joseph.

287

:

Then he bought them fine linen, took

him down and wrapped him in the linen,

288

:

and he laid him in a tomb which had

been hu out of the rock and rolled a

289

:

stone against the door of the tomb.

290

:

And Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother

of Joseph's, observed where he was laid.

291

:

Chapter 16

292

:

Now.

293

:

When the Sabbath was passed, Mary

Magdalene married the mother of

294

:

James and Salome about bought spices

that they might come and anoint

295

:

him very early in the morning.

296

:

On the first day of the week, they

came to the tomb when the sun had

297

:

risen and they set amongst themselves,

who will roll away the stone from

298

:

the door for the tomb for us.

299

:

But when they look up, they saw that

the stone had been rolled away for.

300

:

It was very large.

301

:

And entering the tomb.

302

:

They saw a young man clothed in

a long white robe sitting on the

303

:

right side, and they were alarmed.

304

:

But he said to them, do not be alarmed.

305

:

You seek Jesus of Nazareth

who was crucified.

306

:

He has risen.

307

:

He is not here.

308

:

See the place where they laid him?

309

:

But go tell his disciples and Peter that

he is going before you into Galilee.

310

:

There you will see him as he said to you.

311

:

So they went out quickly and fled

from the tomb for they trembled and

312

:

were amazed and they said nothing

to anyone for they were afraid.

313

:

Now, when he rose early on the

first day of the week, he appeared

314

:

first to Mary Magdalene, out of

whom he had cast seven demons.

315

:

She went and told those who had been

with him as they mourned and wept, and

316

:

when they heard that he was alive and had

been seen by her, they did not believe.

317

:

After that, he appeared in another

form to two of them as they walked

318

:

and went into the country, and they

went and told it to the rest, but

319

:

they did not believe them either.

320

:

Later he appeared to the 11 as they

sat at the table and he rebuked their

321

:

unbelief and hardness of heart because

they did not believe those who had

322

:

seen him after he had risen, and he

said to them, go into the world and

323

:

preach the gospel to every creature.

324

:

He who believes and is baptized will

be saved, but he who does not believe

325

:

will be condemned and these signs

will follow those who believe in

326

:

my name, they will cast out demons.

327

:

They will speak with new tongues,

they will take up serpents and

328

:

if they drink anything deadly,

it will by no means hurt them.

About the Podcast

I Can't (HE Can)
All things life, love, Christ.
Hello, everyone!! Welcome to I Can't (He Can) - a down to Earth and honest podcast about life's high's, lows, and everything in between.

From childhood experiences, love, raising kids, a career, walking with Christ - to unpacking (very personal) daily struggles... Join me as I share my journey through life and how I discovered that when, "I can't... He can."

Each episode is rooted in the Word of God and how it gave me the strength (and the hope) to endure all parts of life. So - if you're not sure where your faith lies or if you're looking to grow closer to Jesus, while finding encouragement for your own walk, this is the space for you.

To whoever reads this:
I'm glad you're here and I hope you stay a while. There is something I need to give back to the world - and to you.

That 'something' is my story, my life and my words that were once marked by pain, but are now marked by love and a new found faith in Christ. But hold it right there! Do not be quick to judge. While the root of all my talks are founded in the Bible - do not mistake what I have to say for 'unremarkable' or 'not relatable'.

My story is different than yours. However, if there is one thing we 100% have in common, it's that God has always been with us. If you agree - stick around. If you DON'T agree - stick around too. Let me show the unbeliever, the doubter, and the unsure person, how God has always been there.
