Speaker:

Welcome back everyone.

2

:

This is episode 30 of I Can't.

3

:

He Can.

4

:

I am here sharing another episode of

the Sound Mind series where we are

5

:

going through the book of Ephesians.

6

:

Today we are going to read Ephesians four.

7

:

And for next week we are actually going

to wrap it up with Ephesians five and

8

:

Ephesians six, six is not too long.

9

:

So I think next week we're

gonna combine both of those two.

10

:

But today we're gonna

go over Ephesians four.

11

:

And I don't know about you but

I absolutely love Ephesians.

12

:

I also recently read Philippians and

it was just amazing, but you guys will

13

:

find that every single book I read,

I'm probably gonna say, oh my gosh.

14

:

Is my favorite book, but as a whole,

the Bible is just my favorite book.

15

:

There's just so much to get from the word.

16

:

It's amazing.

17

:

But anyway, before we start reading, I

wanted to let you guys know that I have

18

:

created an Instagram for the podcast.

19

:

I am not like too gung-ho about

mixing, you know, professional

20

:

with personal and vice versa.

21

:

But I just figured it was easier to

create an Instagram for the podcast.

22

:

And if you wanna follow that Instagram,

it's, I can't underscore he can.

23

:

Very simple.

24

:

you guys can go follow there.

25

:

I'm going to post things as

they come up, whether it's.

26

:

Scriptures, what I'm going to be

talking about on the podcast, if

27

:

you guys ever want to reach out to

me, you can reach out to me here

28

:

on YouTube or also, via Instagram.

29

:

but remember that I'm not an expert.

30

:

I'm not a theologist.

31

:

I am simply reading the word to you

from the New King James version.

32

:

That is the version that I am

reading and I'm just explaining what

33

:

I'm taking from it, also things in

my perspective, things in my life

34

:

currently, and what I'm going through.

35

:

I don't expect everything

that I take from it to really

36

:

resonate with you all the time.

37

:

But I do.

38

:

I want you to open the word for

yourselves and see what it has to say

39

:

because every single time that you

open this book, this holy Bible, every

40

:

time that you guys open it, believe me,

it's going to speak to you differently.

41

:

That is exactly what happens

to me and all my friends that I

42

:

know that also read the word so

43

:

little of water.

44

:

My goodness.

45

:

I don't know how teachers

do it, talking all day.

46

:

Alright, you guys, chapter four.

47

:

Oh my gosh, I'm so silly.

48

:

All right,

49

:

So, verse four, chapter one, I

therefore the prisoner of the Lord

50

:

beseech you to walk worthy of the

calling with which you were called

51

:

with all loneliness and gentleness.

52

:

With long suffering, bearing with one

another, and love endeavoring to keep the

53

:

unity of the spirit and the bond of peace.

54

:

There is one body and one spirit, just

as you were called in one hope of your

55

:

calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

one God, and Father of all who is above

56

:

all and through all and in you all.

57

:

I really love.

58

:

This little paragraph.

59

:

This is verse one through verse

six, and then one through three is

60

:

basically Paul saying, I'm the prisoner

of the Lord and I am imploring you.

61

:

That's when he says, I ce you.

62

:

I am implore.

63

:

You walk in the worthiness of your

calling, meaning you are a child

64

:

of God, so walk worthy of that.

65

:

You are chosen by God, by Christ.

66

:

So walk in that worthiness and endure.

67

:

There's gonna be long suffering.

68

:

There's gonna be trials, there's gonna

be things that you're gonna go through,

69

:

but go through it together one another

in love bearing with one another.

70

:

In love.

71

:

We have to be gentle.

72

:

We have to be lowly, meaning we have

to stay humble because we are all

73

:

gonna go through this thing together.

74

:

We are the body of Christ.

75

:

So all of us, just like Christ, went

through his trials and went through his.

76

:

Tremendous sacrifice and pain.

77

:

We are also going to endure.

78

:

Not that great, but similar stuff.

79

:

Okay?

80

:

So we need to enjoy that

together because what we are one.

81

:

And then he continues to say in verse

three, endeavoring to keep the unity

82

:

of the spirit and the bond of peace.

83

:

So we need to be gentle, we need

to be loving with one another.

84

:

The how are we gonna keep that spirit

of unity if we endure together,

85

:

if we look after one another?

86

:

So verse four, there is

one body and one spirit.

87

:

We are the body of Christ.

88

:

What do we all have inside us?

89

:

The Holy Spirit.

90

:

And we have that because Jesus left

that for us after he resurrected.

91

:

That was our gift.

92

:

I'm pretty sure that's

part of our inheritance.

93

:

So we have the spirit and we're one

body because he is the head and we

94

:

are the body of the church, and he is

calling us in one hope and one Lord.

95

:

So there's one God, there's one Lord.

96

:

There's one baptism.

97

:

This isn't talking about water baptism.

98

:

This is talking about the baptism

us in the faith when we are baptized

99

:

with the word and with the spirit.

100

:

So this is a spiritual baptism.

101

:

This is, this isn't just a

dunking an in and out baptism.

102

:

No, we are of one Lord, one faith, one

baptism, one God, and Father of all.

103

:

God is the Father of all those things.

104

:

And then it continues as.

105

:

Who is above all, God is

above all and through all.

106

:

So God is above all, he's

through all and in you all.

107

:

We all have a piece of him.

108

:

So beautiful.

109

:

I love the word

110

:

verse seven.

111

:

Oh these planes,

112

:

verse seven.

113

:

But to each one of us, grace

was given according to the

114

:

measure of Christ's gifts.

115

:

Therefore, he says, when he

ascended on high, he led captivity

116

:

captive and gave gifts to men.

117

:

I have here written broke Bondage

of sin, and I have that for the line

118

:

that says he led captivity captive.

119

:

I think that is such a beautiful way

to say what he took from us, because

120

:

not just in these times where Paul was

writing, but even now we are held captive.

121

:

Of so many things we're held

captive of our careers, we're held

122

:

captive of our marriages, of our

relationships, even of our children.

123

:

Sometimes I love my children, but there

are people who have an almost obsessive

124

:

and not good relationship with their kids

or with other people, and you can't be

125

:

held captive to where you lose yourself

or you lose sight of what's important.

126

:

Of course, family and children are

important, but it's also important to know

127

:

that there is more to life So in verse

eight, Paul says, therefore he says, when

128

:

he ascended on high, he meaning Jesus.

129

:

He led captivity captive.

130

:

He is so powerful and so incredible,

and he can do anything that he

131

:

held captive the captivity itself.

132

:

He broke bondage.

133

:

He broke those chains that you always

hear people sing about and talk

134

:

about, oh, break my chains, Lord.

135

:

Yes, he did that and he does that

and he will continue to do that, and

136

:

that was a gift that he gave to us.

137

:

If we call on him, he

will help us do that.

138

:

A lot of people don't understand that.

139

:

People just assume God can do anything.

140

:

But no, it also takes work.

141

:

It takes work because you first have

to knock, you first have to knock.

142

:

You first have to ask, and then

little by little you start doing

143

:

the work and then comes the change.

144

:

Then he really starts to get to work.

145

:

That's what people don't

understand, but he can do it

146

:

because he led captivity captive.

147

:

Verse nine.

148

:

Now this he ascended.

149

:

What does it mean?

150

:

But that he also first descended

into the lower parts of Earth.

151

:

He who has descended is also the

one who ascended far above all the

152

:

heavens that he might fill all things.

153

:

So Paul here, is basically

saying like, what is this?

154

:

He ascended mean?

155

:

Because if you're a God in heaven or

from heaven, then wouldn't you come down?

156

:

But yes, he did come down.

157

:

Why?

158

:

Because he was born here.

159

:

He was born.

160

:

On earth.

161

:

But then when he ascended, that

means when he resurrected, he who was

162

:

descended is also the one who ascended.

163

:

So he came down and he went back up,

ascended far above all the heavens

164

:

that he might fill all things.

165

:

And in that ascending, what did he do?

166

:

He filled all things with what?

167

:

With the Holy Spirit.

168

:

Verse 11.

169

:

And he himself gave some to be apostles.

170

:

Some prophets, some evangelists,

and some pastors and teachers.

171

:

I wanna break this down because in

verse eight, where it was saying that

172

:

he led captivity captive, it finishes

by saying and gave gifts to men.

173

:

So Paul in verse nine, explains,

okay, but he's the one that ascended.

174

:

But what happened there?

175

:

Yes, he descended 'cause he was born here.

176

:

He ascended back when he

resurrected and in him ascending,

177

:

he left us with a spirit.

178

:

But he also gave some people gifts, so

they're talking about spiritual gifts,

179

:

and in these spiritual gifts, verse

11, it says he himself gave some to be

180

:

apostles, some prophets evangelists,

and some pastors and some teachers.

181

:

So he made some people

these specific things.

182

:

Not everyone is a pastor.

183

:

Not everyone is a teacher.

184

:

Not everyone is an evangelist.

185

:

I'm not saying I'm an evangelist, but.

186

:

I am just a person here reading the

word of God and explaining how my

187

:

life has changed because of Jesus.

188

:

So if you wanna call me that, thank you so

much, but I'm just a person here bringing

189

:

the word to you in my own way, but

also staying true to what it says here.

190

:

Let, let's continue.

191

:

And then verse 12, this is where Paul,

remember I said, I think in like the

192

:

last episode that Paul always asks a

question or says something, but then he

193

:

like elaborates and he further explains.

194

:

So this is the verse where he explains

the things that these five different

195

:

people, the teachers, the pastors,

evangelists, et cetera, et cetera, these

196

:

are the things that he's explaining that

these people should be doing or what

197

:

it is that they're going to be doing.

198

:

So verse 12, for the equipping.

199

:

Of the saints, of the work of ministry

for the edifying of the body of Christ.

200

:

Verse 13, till we all come to the unity of

the faith and of the knowledge of the Son

201

:

of God to be a perfect man to the measure

of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

202

:

So I'm gonna read verse 11 through 13

again, so that it all makes sense for you.

203

:

And he himself gave some to be apostles,

some prophets, some evangelists,

204

:

and some pastors and teachers.

205

:

For the equipping of the saints, of

the work of the ministry, for the

206

:

edifying of the body of Christ, and

of the knowledge of the Son of God

207

:

to be a perfect man to the measure of

the stature of the fullness of Christ.

208

:

So he's saying, I gave some spiritual

gifts to these five kinds of people.

209

:

Mind you, there could be many evangelists,

many teachers, but this is for the

210

:

equipping, for the preparation.

211

:

When he's saying equipping,

he means for people to be.

212

:

Prepared for the saints of

the work of the ministry.

213

:

So these are people that are going to

prepare other people to do the work

214

:

of the ministry, to do the work of

God, it further says, for the edifying

215

:

of the body of Christ, till we all

come to the unity of the faith and

216

:

of the knowledge of the Son of God.

217

:

To a perfect man, to the measure of

the stature of the fullness of Christ.

218

:

So to edify is to improve or to instruct,

but in a godly way, I guess you can say.

219

:

So kind of like this podcast, I personally

think that I am edifying God, because I'm

220

:

trying to instruct and to teach and it is

something that I think the Lord will say.

221

:

It's worthy.

222

:

I think he'll give his approval on it.

223

:

Maybe I'm wrong, but intellectually

and morally, I think it's something

224

:

that can improve someone's life.

225

:

And so it continues to say that these

people are here to prepare by equipping.

226

:

So to prepare these people and to edify

the body of Christ, to instruct the

227

:

body of Christ us, all of us as a whole,

228

:

so we can have knowledge of the son

of God who was a perfect man, and in

229

:

unity and in faith we can receive,

and we can have the fullness of

230

:

Christ, we can come to understand all

that Christ is how by being equipped

231

:

and by edifying the body of Christ.

232

:

'cause if, think about it, if the church

the body of Christ is not edified.

233

:

And it's not something that's

doing right by the word of

234

:

God, then what are we doing?

235

:

Are we really the body of Christ?

236

:

We're not.

237

:

So that is what these people have to do.

238

:

These people have to equip us so that

we know the word of God and that we can

239

:

continue to act on it together as a whole.

240

:

Let's continue to verse 14 through six.

241

:

16, that we should no longer be

children tossed to and fro and carried

242

:

about with every wind of doctrine

by trickery of men in the cunning

243

:

craftiness of a deceitful plotting.

244

:

But verse 15.

245

:

But speaking the truth in love may

grow up in all things into him.

246

:

Who is the head?

247

:

Christ 16.

248

:

From who the whole body joined and knit

together by whatever joint supplies.

249

:

According to the effective working

by which every part does its share

250

:

causes growth of the body for

the edifying of itself in love.

251

:

There's a lot there.

252

:

But verse 14 says that let

us no longer be tricked.

253

:

remember, we are children.

254

:

We need rules.

255

:

That is the truth.

256

:

We need rules.

257

:

We need to be taught.

258

:

We need to be handheld 24 7 because if

we don't know this, if we don't follow

259

:

this, then we are going to be what?

260

:

We are going to be tricked.

261

:

Like it says here With every doctrine.

262

:

Every doctrine by the trickery

of men, how many places have

263

:

we not gone to and nowadays?

264

:

We don't even have to go

to church to be tricked.

265

:

We can just open our phone on

Instagram or TikTok and that's it.

266

:

We have it right there at our disposal,

in our hands, and that's really dangerous.

267

:

So we can't be children that are

tossed back and forth to and fro.

268

:

No.

269

:

We need to have these teachers,

these apostles, these evangelists.

270

:

We need to have these pastors who are

rightfully equipping us and edifying the

271

:

body of Christ, teaching them, instructing

them so that we are not tricked.

272

:

It, and we can continue to be true

children of God, not tossed to and fro

273

:

how it says in verse 14 and then in 15.

274

:

But speaking the truth in love, we

need to speak the truth, the word of

275

:

God in love, not in like a hasty way.

276

:

Um, making sure that people like,

oh, you gotta, you know, listen

277

:

to this pastor and that pastor.

278

:

You gotta read the word.

279

:

You have to, you have to.

280

:

No, no, no.

281

:

We read, we evangelize.

282

:

We plant the seed, that's all we do.

283

:

If people wanna hear it, they will.

284

:

And maybe one day they will have

no other choice but to hear it.

285

:

And so verse 16 says, from whom?

286

:

The whole body joined and

knit together by what?

287

:

Every joint supplies, according to the

effective working by which every part

288

:

does, its shared causes growth of the

body for the edifying of itself and love.

289

:

So if every body does their part.

290

:

And it does it correctly edifies the

body of Christ correctly and it's

291

:

done in love, then it's going to grow.

292

:

And that's exactly what

we have to keep in mind.

293

:

Like I just said, we can't wanna

beat the word into people as much as

294

:

sometimes you wanna say, oh my God,

you're going down the wrong path.

295

:

You can't do that.

296

:

You have to take a step back,

which is something that I really

297

:

have a hard time with, especially

with my sisters and my family.

298

:

But.

299

:

Family are usually the

toughest critics, right?

300

:

Because they know you, they know

the old you, so you just have to

301

:

learn how to take a step back.

302

:

And if you take a step back and you do

things with love, then the effective

303

:

working by every part does its share.

304

:

Eventually someone, someone else

in the body of Christ may reach

305

:

those family members that are

hard to reach and they're gonna do

306

:

their part just like it says here.

307

:

By what every joint supplies, according

to the effective working by which every

308

:

part does its share causes growth of the

body for the edifying of itself and love.

309

:

So I'm confident that maybe not just me,

maybe, maybe they don't wanna hear it

310

:

from me, but maybe they'll be open to

hearing it from someone else one day.

311

:

And that's the body, that's the body of

Christ doing its work in the correct way.

312

:

And I'm hopeful of that.

313

:

I pray for that.

314

:

I have faith in that.

315

:

We're almost done.

316

:

Yes, we're almost done.

317

:

Okay.

318

:

I'm gonna read verse 17 through 28.

319

:

This I say therefore and testify in

the Lord that you should no longer

320

:

walk as the rest of the Gentiles

walk in the futility of their mind,

321

:

having their understanding darkened.

322

:

Being alienated from the life of God

because of the ignorance that is in them,

323

:

because of the blindness of their heart.

324

:

Okay, I'm gonna stop.

325

:

I said I was gonna read to

28, but that was too good.

326

:

I have to stop.

327

:

So 17 through 18, that

is perfectly stated.

328

:

Paul says that this, I say

therefore, because of everything

329

:

that I already said before, I'm

testifying, I'm saying to you guys.

330

:

That in the Lord.

331

:

When you are in the Lord, when you

have the Spirit, you are no longer to

332

:

walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk.

333

:

So I, because I have the Holy Spirit in

me and I, I, I consider myself saved.

334

:

I know I am saved.

335

:

I can't walk the way that

I was walking before.

336

:

Does that mean I'm perfect?

337

:

Does that mean that I'm

not gonna make mistakes?

338

:

I pray that I continue to

grow and stop making mistakes.

339

:

I do.

340

:

But.

341

:

I should definitely no longer walk

like the rest of the Gentiles.

342

:

I can't.

343

:

It's just you can't do it.

344

:

But then it says in the futility, so you

no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles

345

:

walk in the futility of their mind.

346

:

Our minds are disgusting.

347

:

If you just stop for a moment and you

say, I'm not gonna talk for 10 minutes.

348

:

The things that you think

about in 10 minutes.

349

:

For the most part, trash all trash

in the futility of their mind.

350

:

Verse 18, having their understanding

darkened again, our phones.

351

:

Our phones darken our mind.

352

:

We have darkness in our hand 24 7.

353

:

We are just continuously connected to

all these things that darken our mind,

354

:

being alienated from the life of God.

355

:

This.

356

:

The world sin.

357

:

This alienates us from God.

358

:

It keeps us further and further away,

further and further away from God because

359

:

of the ignorance that is in them, the

people that created all of these things.

360

:

All the things that are sinful,

all those things feel good.

361

:

Why?

362

:

Because they're ignorant.

363

:

They don't want God.

364

:

They don't want this.

365

:

If they wanted this, they wouldn't have

this because this was meant to destroy.

366

:

This was meant to keep us dumb, to keep us

away from this, to keep us away from him.

367

:

That's what that is for, and

that is why you need this to be

368

:

awakened, to see that there's more

out there than the phone than.

369

:

Netflix, then partying, then drinking and

passing out and just fun and wasting your

370

:

life away and just money, money, money.

371

:

No, you're being alienated

from the life of God because of

372

:

the ignorance that is in them.

373

:

'cause the ignorance

that is in those people.

374

:

The people that created all

of these things of the world

375

:

because of the blindness of their heart.

376

:

They're ignorant because

their hearts are blind.

377

:

They don't know it.

378

:

The song, amazing Grace, I was blind,

but now I see, and that is in fact me.

379

:

I was blind and now I see

380

:

and I see clearer than ever.

381

:

Clearer than ever.

382

:

It's not 'cause I'm wearing my

contacts today 'cause I wear glasses.

383

:

No, I'm, I was blind and now I see.

384

:

But I see clearly because I have read.

385

:

I know.

386

:

And I am not a ignorant,

I am not ignorant anymore.

387

:

I am alive and I am free.

388

:

Don't you guys wanna feel free?

389

:

Don't you wanna feel.

390

:

Oh gosh.

391

:

Don't you wanna feel the love of God

and understand that everything he did

392

:

and understand that

everything he did was for you?

393

:

Oh.

394

:

I was blind, but now I see.

395

:

Stop being confused by the

things of the world because

396

:

the things of the world are all going

to leave you when you most need someone.

397

:

But what will never leave you will,

you will never be able to escape.

398

:

Like Ephesians four verse

eight, He led captivity captive

399

:

Jesus and God and the Holy

Spirit will never leave you.

400

:

The world will.

401

:

You'll be forgotten,

402

:

but you'll not be forgotten by your

Lord and your savior, Jesus Christ.

403

:

You should take ownership of that.

404

:

You should read this so

you can understand it.

405

:

Oh, see, this is what understanding.

406

:

Knowing and loving the Lord does.

407

:

Let's continue with verse 19.

408

:

Who being past feeling have

given themselves over to lewdness

409

:

to work all UNC cleanliness?

410

:

Ugh.

411

:

To work all on cleanliness.

412

:

Uncles,

413

:

sometimes these words are so difficult.

414

:

Let me read that again.

415

:

Who being past feeling have given

themselves over to lewdness to

416

:

work all uncles with greediness.

417

:

That just sounds like things with the

world, things that are unclean, things

418

:

that are dirty, things that are naughty,

greediness, because the more money

419

:

you make, the more money you want.

420

:

Lewdness, I mean, you

already know that word.

421

:

Verse 20.

422

:

But you who have not so learned Christ,

the people who have not heard of Christ,

423

:

if indeed you have heard him and have been

taught by him as the truth is in Jesus.

424

:

So yeah, there are some people who

haven't heard of Jesus, but if you

425

:

have, if you have heard and you indeed

heard him and have been taught by him.

426

:

So Paul here was mainly talking to

Gentiles who had not heard of Jesus,

427

:

who have not heard the gospel.

428

:

But he's saying here, throwing it in.

429

:

If you are one of the people that were

taught by him or have heard of him, then

430

:

he says, verse 22, that you put off stop.

431

:

That you put off concerning your

former conduct, your former self.

432

:

The old man which grows corrupt.

433

:

So he's calling your

former self, your old man.

434

:

So we all have an old man inside

of old woman, old man, whatever.

435

:

Our old self is, what he's saying.

436

:

Verse 22 that you put off, cut 'em

off concerning your former conduct.

437

:

The old man which grows corrupt

according to the deceitful lusts.

438

:

Verse 23, and be renewed in the spirit

of your mind, and that you verse

439

:

24 and that you put on the Newman.

440

:

So forget the old person,

put on the new person.

441

:

Why?

442

:

Because.

443

:

You have been renewed in

the spirit of your mind.

444

:

You have a new spirit now.

445

:

It's not just like a new body.

446

:

No, no, no.

447

:

Here on earth we have a new spirit.

448

:

We have a new mind.

449

:

Once we learn of Jesus, we can have that.

450

:

We don't have to continue

to live in our past self.

451

:

In our old man, we can put on the new

man, which was created according to

452

:

God in true righteousness and holiness.

453

:

I love that.

454

:

Oh my gosh.

455

:

He got me all teary-eyed

and now I'm all stuffy.

456

:

Sorry guys.

457

:

Verse 25, therefore putting away lying.

458

:

That's one of the things

that we have to stop doing.

459

:

Lying.

460

:

Let each one of you speak

truth with his neighbor.

461

:

That's one of the things like we

need to speak truth with people that

462

:

are around us with our neighbors,

for we are members of one another.

463

:

We are all.

464

:

One, remember one body of Christ,

we all make up the body of Christ.

465

:

this section is called

Do Not Grieve the Spirit.

466

:

So do not lie.

467

:

'cause we are one with our neighbors.

468

:

So let's not lie amongst each other.

469

:

Okay?

470

:

Verse 26, be angry and do not sin.

471

:

So yeah, it's really hard when we get

angry to not do things that are sinful.

472

:

To not cause us to sin.

473

:

Like that's difficult.

474

:

But it says here, be angry and do not sin.

475

:

Just walk away.

476

:

It's easy to just stop,

hold your tongue, walk away.

477

:

Do not let the sun go down on your wrath.

478

:

I actually circled that because

that's something that's, that

479

:

was really difficult for me.

480

:

Going to bed angry.

481

:

I don't want the sun to come

back up and me still be.

482

:

Letting anger and all

these thoughts fester.

483

:

No, that just, that makes things worse.

484

:

It really does.

485

:

So even in relationships,

never go to sleep mad.

486

:

Talk it out lovingly and with

understanding, hear one another.

487

:

Do not let the sun go down on your wrath.

488

:

Verse 27, nor give place to the devil.

489

:

Absolutely not like this book that.

490

:

RA and are always talking about

491

:

don't give the enemy a seat at your table.

492

:

I promise I'm gonna actually read it.

493

:

I've had it for, I don't

know how long, I had no idea.

494

:

It was a Christian book when I first

bought it years ago, and I always had

495

:

it there collecting dust, but they have

nothing but good things to say about that.

496

:

Also, that's not a paid promotion,

I'm just randomly talking about it.

497

:

But anyway, I definitely do

have to read that and it says.

498

:

Verse 27, nor give place to the devil.

499

:

Why are you gonna give room

for things of the enemy?

500

:

stop that.

501

:

verse 28.

502

:

Let him who stole steal no longer.

503

:

So if you still stop it, but rather

let him labor, Working with his hands.

504

:

What is good that he may have

something to give him who has need.

505

:

So I also take this as if a person

stole, if a person did something

506

:

wrong, stop doing the wrong stuff, but

also give him something good to do.

507

:

Give people second chances because he

can make something good with his hands.

508

:

He can make something good of

himself and then he can pay it

509

:

back to give him who has needs.

510

:

We all deserve that chance.

511

:

Verse 29,

512

:

let no corrupt word

proceed out of your mouth.

513

:

No cursing.

514

:

I was such a foul mouth, but I think

I'm doing a lot better in that area.

515

:

Let no corrupt word proceed

out of your mouth, but what is

516

:

good for necessary edification?

517

:

Again, edifying is what you're

saying is a edifying God.

518

:

Are you properly instructing someone?

519

:

Are you showing someone

something the right way?

520

:

what's coming out of your mouth?

521

:

Would that say, oh yeah, she's,

she's a follower of Christ.

522

:

Yeah, she's a follower of Christ.

523

:

If what comes out of your mouth says

the opposite, then you need to, you

524

:

need to reexamine yourself like me.

525

:

I also had to examine myself a lot that it

may impart grace to the hearers you see?

526

:

Sometimes I just need to

finish the sentence so that

527

:

I can read my own response.

528

:

Let no corrupt word

proceed out of your mouth.

529

:

But what is good for necessary edification

that it may impart grace to the hearers.

530

:

Verse 30, and do not grieve the

Holy Spirit of God by whom you were

531

:

sealed for the day of redemption.

532

:

Don't grieve the Holy Spirit.

533

:

When you grieve.

534

:

When you have a loss of someone in

your life, you're sad, You just, you

535

:

have like this sadness among you.

536

:

And that's what it says here,

do not grieve the Holy Spirit.

537

:

I didn't know that.

538

:

But Hera actually made me understand

that, that we grieve the Holy Spirit.

539

:

The Holy Spirit is not just like

a little ghost floating around.

540

:

No, no, no.

541

:

The Holy Spirit is in us and it is Jesus.

542

:

It is God.

543

:

They are in us and they.

544

:

Feel, they have feelings.

545

:

They grieve just like us.

546

:

So when we do these things, when

we get angry and we sin, and when

547

:

we have corrupt words that come

out of our mouth, when we curse,

548

:

When we lie, all of these things,

we grieve the Holy Spirit.

549

:

So it's saying, do not grieve the

Holy Spirit by whom you were sealed.

550

:

Why?

551

:

Because when Jesus resurrected and

he left us without inheritance, with

552

:

the Holy Spirit, we were sealed.

553

:

For the day of redemption, verse 31.

554

:

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor,

and evil speaking, be put away from you

555

:

with all malice, all of those things.

556

:

Pack it up, tie it,

throw it away, let it go.

557

:

Take a step back and analyze

these things before you do them.

558

:

Verse 32.

559

:

This is the last one.

560

:

And be kind to one another,

tenderhearted, forgiving one another

561

:

even as God in Christ forgave you.

562

:

When I was driving home today

from church, I don't know why

563

:

I was thinking about that.

564

:

Maybe something I saw on social media,

I don't know, but I remember thinking.

565

:

It's not easy to forgive.

566

:

It's not easy to forgive, but

it feels so good to be forgiven.

567

:

When we do something wrong and someone

forgives us, it's like, ah, yes, fools.

568

:

They forgave me,

569

:

and we shouldn't be like that.

570

:

We need to forgive other people.

571

:

The same way that Jesus and God

and the Holy Spirit forgave us.

572

:

Be kind, tenderhearted,

forgiving one another even as

573

:

God and Christ forgave you.

574

:

That's an important lesson,

probably the most important of

575

:

all, because we all keep anger.

576

:

Built up inside us for a really

long time, and that probably keeps

577

:

us the furthest away from God.

578

:

There's no anger in him.

579

:

There is patience.

580

:

There is mercy.

581

:

There is love.

582

:

There is grace.

583

:

He doesn't get angry at us.

584

:

I don't think he does.

585

:

If we did something wrong, he's

just gonna say, I never knew you.

586

:

He is not gonna get angry with us.

587

:

He's just not gonna recognize us.

588

:

So with that said, I pray that you

guys have enjoyed this episode.

589

:

I pray that you'll be here next week for

chapter five and chapter six of Ephesians.

590

:

And I pray that you guys

have an amazing week ahead.

591

:

I thank you and I love you guys.

592

:

God bless you all.

593

:

Until next time.

To whoever reads this:
I'm glad you're here and I hope you stay a while. There is something I need to give back to the world - and to you.

That 'something' is my story, my life and my words that were once marked by pain, but are now marked by love and a new found faith in Christ. But hold it right there! Do not be quick to judge. While the root of all my talks are founded in the Bible - do not mistake what I have to say for 'unremarkable' or 'not relatable'.

My story is different than yours. However, if there is one thing we 100% have in common, it's that God has always been with us. If you agree - stick around. If you DON'T agree - stick around too. Let me show the unbeliever, the doubter, and the unsure person, how God has always been there.
